Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You identify the main contrast between the current centre and its planned expansion, and correctly report several key features: the existing 25m pool, gym, seating, reception and outdoor courts, as well as the future leisure pool, sports hall and two dance studios. The overview that the centre will expand and offer more facilities is relevant. However, some important changes are omitted or only partly described: the gym extends eastward, the former western courts are replaced by the leisure pool, and new changing rooms are added in both the south-west and south-east. The statement that the pool’s surroundings remain the same is also too broad, since the building gains facilities around them. More precise coverage of these changes would make the account more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introductory overview is followed by a paragraph on the present layout and one on the future. This makes the comparison easy to follow, and phrases such as “in the present” and “in the future” signal the shift in time. However, the progression within the future paragraph is less systematic: facilities are listed without consistently locating them in relation to one another, and the western and eastern changes are not fully distinguished. Several linking words, including “furthermore,” “similarly,” “although,” “however” and “nevertheless,” are used mechanically or do not express a clear contrast. Organising the future features by side of the building and using simpler, more precise links would improve cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for describing a plan, including “outdoor courts,” “seating area,” “leisure pool,” “sports hall” and “dance studio,” so the main information is generally understandable. There is also an attempt to vary wording with “expanded” and “introduce.” However, some choices are imprecise or unnatural: “physical activity centre” is less suitable than the task’s “sports centre,” and “sites for more entertainment” does not clearly describe the new facilities. Spelling errors such as “rigth” and “stodio,” along with the misspelling “cafe,” are noticeable. Build a more accurate range of location and change vocabulary, and check spelling and collocations so that descriptions sound natural and precise.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mixture of simple and complex sentences, including clauses with “while,” “although” and “however,” and the reader can usually understand the intended comparisons. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly in verb forms and agreement. For example, “it will also introduce” should be “it will also be introduced” if referring to the centre’s facilities, while “it will also construct” gives the centre an unclear agent. In “it will also introduce two dance stodio,” the plural noun requires a plural form, and “it will be more expanded” is not a well-formed comparative construction. The sentence beginning “although” also adds “but,” creating an unnecessary double contrast. More controlled tense choices and simpler, accurately formed comparisons would strengthen the range you are attempting.
