Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify several genuine changes, including the addition of a leisure pool, two dance studios, a sports hall and a café, and note that the outdoor courts will be removed. However, the response only partially summarises the plans: it gives little account of the overall expansion or of important retained features such as the 25m pool, seating and central reception. Some locations are also inaccurate or unclear. For example, the changing room that remains beside the 25m pool is not shifted to the bottom-right corner; new changing rooms are added in other areas. The claim that the gym is in the centre of the outdoor courts misrepresents the current layout. A clearer overview and more accurate comparisons of where facilities remain, move or are added would develop the response more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The response has a basic sequence from the present layout to future additions, and phrases such as “In future plans” help signal the topic. However, ideas are not arranged into a clear overall progression, and the paragraphing does not separate the current plan, the main changes and the final comparison. Repeated openings such as “Future plans of university sports centre” make the writing feel list-like, while “we will discuss about sports hall” interrupts the map description rather than linking information. Some references are difficult to follow, particularly “both dance studios, sports hall, changing room…” and “these have been under one wall.” Group the changes by area—for example, west, centre and east—and use clear links such as “Meanwhile” or “In addition” sparingly.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant facility vocabulary, including “leisure pool,” “dance studio,” “sports hall,” “sports shop” and “outdoor courts,” so the reader can recognise many of the features being compared. However, the range of descriptive language is limited, and several phrases are inaccurate or awkward enough to make the intended meaning less clear. “Totally different” is vague, while “under one wall” does not clearly express that facilities will be inside the expanded building. There are also noticeable spelling and word-form problems, such as “tottaly” and “futured.” Aim for precise map vocabulary and natural collocations, such as “will be added,” “will be incorporated into the building” and “will remain in its current position.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
Most sentences rely on simple present or future forms, and attempts to combine ideas often produce faulty structures. For example, “Future plans of university sports centre adding so many new things” lacks a complete verb structure, and “Changing room will be shifted” uses an inaccurate passive construction for the layout shown. Articles and agreement are also inconsistent, as in “layout of university sports centre” and “both dance studios… these have been.” Punctuation and capitalisation are uneven, including sentence starts such as “we will discuss” and missing spaces after full stops. These errors sometimes make relationships between features difficult to understand. Practise accurate comparison patterns such as “The gym will extend eastwards” and “A café will be added in the south-east corner,” then vary sentence forms while keeping them controlled.
