Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the broad change from outdoor courts to an expanded indoor centre and mention several new facilities, including the leisure pool, sports shop, dance studios and café. However, some important details are missing or unclear, and a few locations are misreported. For example, the future plan adds a sports hall east of the seating, but this is not mentioned; the dance studios are along the eastern wall, not simply “top right side”; and the sports shop and new changing room are in the south-west area, rather than clearly “on the entrance.” The overview also says the gym is not replaced and is enlarged, which is relevant, but the main expansion and retention of the central pool and reception could be stated more precisely. Select the key changes and describe their positions accurately.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic paragraph structure, with an opening, an overview and two detail paragraphs, and it generally moves from the present layout to the future plan. However, progression within the paragraphs is not consistently clear. The third paragraph repeats the removal of the outdoor courts already mentioned in the second, while phrases such as “on left side of reception” and “top right side” make it difficult to follow which facilities are being located. Linking expressions such as “also” and “in future” are used repeatedly rather than showing precise relationships between features. Group the changes by area—for example, west side, central area and east side—and use clear references such as “to the east of the seating” to make the comparison easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for describing plans, including “redevelopment,” “outdoor courts,” “changing room” and “leisure pool.” This gives the response a minimally adequate range for the task. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or informal, and some spelling errors reduce clarity: “rest area for drink,” “combine all courts in one frame,” “coomon,” “theybulid” and “authoprity.” “Frame” does not describe the expanded building, and “rest area for drink” is not a natural way to describe a café. Repeated use of “build” also limits precision. Practise standard map-description phrases such as “be replaced by,” “be converted into,” “to the west of” and “along the eastern side,” and check spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts a few longer sentences, including “In future plan, authority make three changing area for different activities,” but control is limited and errors occur frequently. Subject–verb agreement and tense are inconsistent: “diagram show” should be “diagram shows,” and “they built” does not fit consistently with a description of planned changes. Articles and plurals are also often missing or incorrect, as in “there was lot of change,” “one changing room is available” followed by “three changing area,” and “the cafe.” Some sentence boundaries and punctuation make the final paragraph harder to read. Build accuracy first with clear present-versus-future forms, such as “The current centre has…” and “The redevelopment will add…,” then combine these using accurate clauses.
