Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the main change: the centre expands, outdoor courts are removed, and facilities such as a leisure pool, sports hall, dance studios, shop and café are added. You also attempt an overview and compare the current and planned layouts. However, several locations are misreported, which makes the account only partly accurate. In the present plan, the changing room is west of the pool and seating is east, but you reverse these; the gym is north, not “in front” of them. In the future, the sports hall is east of the seating, not on the left, and the gym extends eastward rather than left. The overview also says changing rooms will be constructed “in any areas,” which is unclear. Check directions carefully and describe the key changes more precisely.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for the present and future plans. This helps the reader follow the broad comparison. However, progression within the descriptions is uneven, and some linking phrases do not clarify the spatial relationships. For example, “In the left side of pool and seating” is difficult to connect to the sports hall, while “In the middle there will be no changing” is unclear and conflicts with the statement that central features remain. Repeated use of “In the left/right” also makes the account feel list-like. Organise each plan consistently—for example, describe the centre first, then move west and east—and use clear references such as “to the west of the pool”.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant task vocabulary, including “layout,” “facilities,” “outdoor courts,” “reception,” and “leisure pool,” so the reader can identify many features. There is also some attempt to vary wording with “reconstruction,” “redevelop,” and “expand.” However, the range is limited and several choices or forms are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “sport centre,” “in any areas,” and “all building will be expand.” Spelling errors, including “unviersity” and “Additonally,” are noticeable. These issues sometimes make descriptions less precise, particularly when combined with unclear directions. Build a bank of accurate map language and check spelling and collocations; use terms such as “sports centre,” “facilities will be added,” and “the building will be extended.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a contrast with “while” and an overview beginning “Overall.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction. Examples include “will be expand,” “will be remove,” “gym will be expand,” and “two new dance studio will be construct”; these should use forms such as “will be expanded” and “will be constructed.” There are also incomplete or awkward structures, such as “In present time, sport centre has three building” and “While entering there is reception.” These errors sometimes make relationships difficult to understand. Practise future passive forms and plural agreement, and build complete sentences around clear subjects and verbs.
