Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You identify the broad purpose as an upgrade and mention several genuine changes, including the leisure pool on the left and a sports hall and studios on the right. However, the response addresses the task only minimally: it gives no clear overview of the main changes and omits important details, such as the gym’s extension, the retained 25m pool and seating, and the new facilities in the south-east. Some information is inaccurate or unclear: “All three buildings” does not describe the plans, and the entrance does not gain a shop and café; these are added in separate areas. The response is also 83 words below the required minimum. Develop a fuller comparison of the present and future layouts, using accurate locations.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The response has a basic sequence: it introduces redevelopment, then describes changes on the left and right, and ends with a general statement about the building. This gives the reader some sense of the topic, but the ideas are compressed into one paragraph and the relationships between them are not consistently clear. For example, “Instead outdoor curt is a leisure pool on the left side and curt on right is joined ito the building as sport hall” combines several changes without clearly distinguishing the former courts, the expanded building, and the new sports hall. The reference to “main hall” is also unclear. Organise the report into an introduction, an overview, and a paragraph for each side or area, using clear location links.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for describing a plan, including “leisure pool,” “left side,” “sports hall,” “changing rooms,” “studios,” “shop,” and “cafe.” These terms show an attempt to report the facilities rather than discuss the topic generally. However, the range is limited, and several inaccurate or misspelled choices make the description harder to follow: “sport centre,” “curt,” and “ito” do not communicate the intended wording reliably. “All three buildings” is also an imprecise description of the layout. Build a more accurate set of plan vocabulary, such as “sports centre,” “outdoor courts,” “incorporated into the building,” and “facilities,” and use precise directional terms for each addition.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response includes a few simple sentence patterns and attempts to connect ideas, as in “Instead outdoor curt is a leisure pool on the left side and curt on right is joined…” However, the range is very limited, and frequent problems with articles, sentence structure, and verb forms make some relationships difficult to understand. For example, “It is a plan for upgrading university sport centre” lacks clear article use, while “All three buildings are made as one big centre” uses an awkward passive construction that obscures the intended change. The long sentence beginning “Instead” also lacks a clear grammatical structure. Practise accurate simple comparisons first, then combine them with clauses such as “while” and “whereas”; check articles and ensure each sentence has a clear subject and verb.
