Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify several important changes, including the addition of a sports hall, café and dance studios, the gym’s expansion, and the removal of the outdoor courts. These details are generally relevant, and you note that the original changing room remains. However, the response does not give a clear, accurate overview of the redevelopment as a whole. The statement that the future centre has a “huge place” is vague, and the description omits key changes such as the leisure pool replacing the western courts and the building expanding on both sides. Some locations are also unclear: the new changing room is south of the leisure pool, while the other is in the south-east, beside the café. Select the main transformations and describe their positions precisely.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has separate paragraphs and moves broadly from an introduction to changes in the future plan, so there is some organisation. However, the progression is not consistently clear: the second paragraph repeats the introduction and gives a general comment, while later details are presented as a list without a strong organising principle. Connections such as “also” and “another” are repeated, and “The major change in the layout is wast area” does not clearly link to the following point about the courts. Group the information by area—for example, west, centre and east—and use clear references to distinguish existing features from additions. This would make the comparisons easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “layout,” “expanded,” “addition,” and “demolishes,” and you attempt to name the facilities precisely. However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms are inaccurate, sometimes making the meaning unclear. “Huge place” is not a natural way to describe the expanded centre, and “wast area” appears to mean the area or space occupied by the redevelopment. There are also spelling errors in “situaion” and “coutrs,” and “demolishes” is not the appropriate form for describing courts that will be removed. Build a more precise set of terms for describing locations and changes, such as “occupies,” “is replaced by,” and “is added to the eastern side.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, and the reader can understand many of your main points. However, the range is limited, and errors in agreement, articles, verb forms and sentence construction occur frequently. For example, “The plans illustrates” should use a plural verb, while “The main difference … are” has a singular subject with a plural verb. “There are two dance studio also plan” is not grammatically complete, and “a new changing room also establish” needs a passive form such as “is also added.” Some punctuation is also missing, as in “future plans.Outdoor.” Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and passive constructions, which are especially useful for describing planned changes.
