Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You identify the overall direction of change and report several important additions, including the leisure pool, sports hall, dance studios, café and sports shop. You also correctly note the gym’s expansion and the new facilities in the south-east and south-west. This gives the response a relevant overview and covers the main transformation. However, some details are imprecise: the leisure pool replaces the western outdoor courts, while the sports hall and dance studios occupy the eastern expansion; the wording about these being “towards the right of the seating area” groups their locations together. You also omit that the 25m pool, seating, central changing room and reception remain in place. More precise comparisons and a clearer account of what is retained would make the description more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall shape: an introduction, an overview, and paragraphs describing changes in the northern and southern areas. The reader can follow the broad west-to-east and north-to-south comparisons, and linking phrases such as “Moreover,” “Furthermore” and “On the other hand” help connect points. However, some transitions feel mechanical or do not express a clear contrast: “On the other hand” introduces another set of additions rather than an opposing idea, and “At the end” is not a natural way to conclude a map description. The long sentence about the northern regions also compresses several locations, making the relationships harder to follow. Use more precise location-based sequencing and clearer references to each plan.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.5

You use a suitable range of vocabulary for describing redevelopment, including “envisaged,” “slated to be replaced,” “expanded” and “introduction.” These choices show an attempt to move beyond basic descriptions, and the meaning is generally clear. Some expressions are less natural or precise for this task, however. “Improved amenities and with wider options” is vague, while “opened” is not the best verb for rooms or facilities being added to a building. “Regions” is also less exact than “areas” or “sides” when describing a floor plan. Aim for accurate, conventional map-description collocations and use specific terms for the facilities and their positions; this would make the vocabulary more flexible and precise.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and more complex structures, including “where outdoor courts are slated to be replaced” and “with the introduction of…”. The main ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “whereas” is incorrectly followed by a comma in the opening sentence, and “regions shows a significant changes” has subject–verb agreement and singular/plural errors. Articles are also missing in “introduction of leisure pool” and “sports shop and cafe,” while the sentence beginning “The north-eastern…” runs into the next sentence without a space after the full stop. These issues show that complex phrasing is not yet consistently controlled. Check agreement, articles and sentence boundaries, and favour shorter, accurate sentences when listing several locations.
