Student answer (Band 5.0)

The layout above illustrates the present and the future plan of a university's sport centre.

Overview, the University sport centre has an open entrance to the reception, pool for relaxation, changing rooms, outdoor courts, gym, sports shop for clothes or other needed items, cafe for internets and coffee, sport hall for other sports like running or basket balling, and dance studio for practices.

In Contrast, in the present the University's Sport Centre has limited activities in such as the reception, pool, outdoor courts, changing room, gym, and seating which showed how the space allocated for sporty ativities was not properly utilized as against the activities in future university's Sport Centre Plan. The future plan entails much more activities ranginging from sports shop where individuals could purchase items, cafe for quick email checks and coffee drinks, sport hall for inhouse activities, leisure pool which is different from the enclosured pool and dance studios for add extra activities.

Inconclusion, the layout entailed the University Sports Centres in the present and future plans. in as much it has a pesent basic unique activities, there is a need for additional activities as clearly shown in the future plan. However, while the present plan gives the centre a continous activities, the future plan will keep its relevance.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the two plans and mention several relevant facilities, including the pool, gym, outdoor courts, sports hall and dance studios. However, the response only partially reports the visual changes: it does not clearly explain that the building expands over the former outdoor courts, that the gym extends eastward, or where the new facilities are positioned. The overview instead lists imagined purposes, such as the café being for “quick email checks,” and describes the pool as being “for relaxation”; these details are not shown in the plans. The comparison that the present space was “not properly utilized” is also an unsupported judgement. Focus on the main spatial changes and distinguish the existing 25m pool from the new leisure pool to make the summary more accurate and complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable opening, overview and concluding paragraph, and it uses contrast markers such as “In Contrast” to signal comparison. However, the information does not progress clearly from the present layout to the planned redevelopment. The overview mixes facility descriptions with invented uses, while the next paragraph repeats a general list rather than grouping changes by area or explaining what remains unchanged. “Inconclusion” introduces a conclusion that largely repeats earlier points instead of adding a clear summary. Organise the report into a concise overview followed by a paragraph on the current layout and one on the future changes. Use linking expressions to show specific relationships, such as what is retained, replaced or added.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-related vocabulary, including “layout,” “reception,” “outdoor courts,” “sports shop” and “dance studio,” so the reader can identify the general subject. However, the range is limited and several choices are inaccurate or informal for describing a plan. “Pool for relaxation” and “cafe for internets” assign purposes not indicated by the diagram, while “basket balling” and “inhouse activities” are awkward expressions. Spelling and word-form errors such as “ativities,” “ranginging,” “enclosured” and “continous” are noticeable and sometimes make the meaning harder to follow. Use precise spatial and change vocabulary—for example, “located,” “extended,” “replaced” and “added”—and check spelling and collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt longer sentences and use contrast clauses, as in “while the present plan gives the centre…,” but control is inconsistent, and many sentences contain errors that make the relationships between ideas difficult to follow. For example, “In Contrast, in the present the University's Sport Centre has limited activities in such as…” has an incomplete, awkward structure, and “there is a need for additional activities as clearly shown” does not clearly express the plan’s changes. There are also problems with articles, agreement and sentence boundaries, including “Overview, the University sport centre…” and the lower-case sentence beginning “in as much.” Practise writing direct, complete sentences with accurate tense and agreement, then punctuate them consistently.
