Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the main contrast between the current centre’s limited facilities and the planned expansion, and you report several accurate locations, including the central 25m pool, the northern gym, and the new café and sports shop. However, the overview is vague (“significant changing”) and does not clearly summarise the key changes: the building expands over both outdoor-court areas, and new facilities are added around the retained central pool. Some details are unclear or incomplete, such as the future gym’s eastward extension and the two dance studios on the eastern side. The description also misplaces the present reception by saying the seating is to its right, rather than east of the pool. A clearer overview and more precise comparisons would make the response more fully address the plan.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic overall sequence: it describes the present layout first and then moves to the future plan. This gives the reader a general sense of the comparison. However, progression within the paragraphs is difficult to follow because several locations are listed in long, loosely connected sentences, and punctuation does not reliably separate ideas. For example, “on the east side there is a cafe and canging room next to them.while on west side…” runs into the next point, while “Gym at north to while dance studio at east with sport hall” leaves the relationships unclear. Use separate, clearly organised paragraphs and group features by area, with accurate linking phrases such as “to the east of” and “in the south-west corner.”

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant map vocabulary, including “outdoor courts,” “reception,” “changing room,” and “leisure pool,” so the reader can recognise many of the facilities. However, the range is limited and several repeated or inaccurate expressions make the description less precise. “Setting area” is not the appropriate term for the seating, and “significant changing” does not naturally describe redevelopment. There are also frequent spelling errors in key words, including “facillity,” “reciption,” and “canging,” which can distract the reader. Build a reliable set of location and change phrases, and check spelling carefully; this will help you describe the plan more clearly without relying on repeated “there is” constructions.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

Most sentences rely on simple “there is” structures, and attempts to combine ideas often produce faulty sentences. For example, “It have two outdoor courts While…” has incorrect subject–verb agreement and an inappropriate capitalisation and connection, while “It have setting are on the right side” makes the relationship between the subject and verb difficult to understand. Articles and sentence boundaries are also inconsistent, as in “at the mid of sport center. At top north…” The response does communicate some basic locations, but frequent errors and limited structural variety sometimes impede understanding. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then combine related details using controlled clauses, for example: “The 25m pool remains central, while the gym extends eastwards.”
