Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You identify the main change clearly: the centre will expand, with a leisure pool replacing the western outdoor courts and a sports hall and dance studios occupying the eastern area. You also note that the entrance, reception and main pool remain, and mention the gym expansion and new café and shop. This covers the key comparison and gives a relevant overall impression. However, some details are unclear or inaccurate: the “pool area to the north” does not specify that the 25m pool remains central, and the two new changing rooms are not both in the east and west corners; one is in the south-west and the other in the south-east. The final claim about making the centre “more luxurious” is not shown by the plans. More precise positioning and a fuller overview of the retained central layout would strengthen the response.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic progression from an introduction and overview to details of the proposed changes, so the reader can follow the general comparison. Linking expressions such as “Overall,” “Moreover,” and “Additionally” help connect points. However, the body moves between the entrance, shop, café, outdoor courts and gym without a consistent spatial route, and some references are difficult to interpret, such as “this area” and “after entering the court.” The long sentence beginning “Outdoor courts on the west side…” combines several changes and is hard to process. Organise the details by area—for example, west, centre and east—and use clearer references to the plans. This would create a more sustained progression and make the linking less mechanical.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for describing redevelopment, including “transformed,” “expanded,” “proposed,” and “facilities,” and the meaning is generally recoverable. There is also some variety in how changes are described. However, several spelling errors are noticeable, including “signifucant,” “improvments,” “lesiure,” and “enchanc,” and some expressions are imprecise or unnatural for a plan description, such as “sports region,” “missing of sports shop,” and “build on outdoor courts.” “Luxurious” is also an unsupported and unsuitable description of the planned facilities. These choices limit precision and sometimes make the reader pause. Use standard facility names and concise location language, such as “the centre,” “a shop will be added,” and “will be constructed on the former eastern courts.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt a mixture of simple and more complex forms, including “Outdoor courts on the west side are going to be transformed…” and clauses linked with “whereas” and “as well as.” However, errors in sentence construction and punctuation are frequent enough to make parts of the description difficult to read. For example, “The entrance would remain same” is missing an article, while “there was amajor missing…” has an unclear structure and tense. The sentence beginning “Outdoor courts…” lacks clear punctuation between its contrasting details, and “there will be two more changing rooms…” does not accurately express the locations. Capitalisation after full stops is inconsistent, as in “. there was…”. Practise accurate past-versus-future forms and build shorter, complete sentences before combining locations with contrast clauses.
