Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify the two plans and mention several relevant features, including the central 25m pool, reception, seating, gym and the addition of a leisure pool, sports hall and dance studios. However, the comparison is difficult to follow and some locations are inaccurate or unclear. For example, you say the café is “east side” of the entrance and describe the sports shop and changing room as being on the south side, without clearly distinguishing their positions in the south-west and south-east areas. The overview also does not clearly summarise the main change: the centre expands over the former outdoor courts and gains several new facilities. Select the major changes and report their positions precisely.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

There is an attempt to move from the present layout to the future plan, signalled by “To begin with” and “In future,” and you include a range of map details. However, ideas are not arranged into clear paragraphs or consistently grouped by area, so the reader has to work to understand the layout. Repeated phrases such as “east side,” “back side” and “in front” do not always make the relationships clear, and the sequence shifts between the entrance, pool, shops and upper areas. Organise the response into an introduction, a brief overview, and separate descriptions of the current and proposed layouts. Use clear location links such as “to the west of” and “in the south-east corner.”

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant map vocabulary, including “25m pool,” “reception area,” “sports hall” and “dance studio,” which helps identify the facilities. However, the range is limited and several expressions are imprecise or repeated, such as “back side,” “east side” and “corner.” Some word choices make the intended feature difficult to identify, as in “east side streat” and “the cate of south side.” Spelling and word-form problems, including “Infront” and “oter,” also reduce clarity. Build a more precise set of location phrases and facility terms, and check spelling. For example, describe the centre as “expanded” and say that new facilities are “added” or “located” in specific areas.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts to describe both layouts and uses some longer sentence forms, but grammatical control is inconsistent and errors often make relationships difficult to interpret. The opening, “The given map chart shows information about the plans below show,” combines incompatible structures. Subject–verb agreement is also problematic in “the plans presents,” while fragments such as “East side of pool is seating area” lack articles and a clear sentence structure. Tense and sentence construction are not controlled consistently when moving from the present to the future plan. Use straightforward, complete sentences first, with accurate articles and verbs—for example, “The gym is north of the pool” and “A leisure pool will be added to the west.”
