Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the main overall change—that the centre will be substantially redeveloped—and correctly note that the 25-metre pool, reception, changing room and seating remain in place. You also describe the pool’s central position and the gym’s northern location. However, the account is only partial: the future description stops while introducing the dance studios and does not report key additions such as the leisure pool, sports hall, café, sports shop, or new changing rooms. The present outdoor courts are also not mentioned. Some details are unclear, including the statement that reception is “the first features.” To strengthen the response, give a complete overview and compare the major additions and expansions with the current layout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is a basic attempt to organise the response: an opening overview is followed by a description of the present plan and then a move to future changes. This gives the reader some sense of the intended comparison. However, progression is limited because the final paragraph ends abruptly after “two new dance,” leaving the future-plan account incomplete. Connections between details are also sometimes difficult to follow, particularly in the sentence describing the pool, gym, reception and entrance together. The overview is not clearly separated from the detailed description, and punctuation and capitalisation make the paragraph boundaries less effective. Use distinct paragraphs for the overview, current layout and planned changes, and group locations systematically, for example from west to east.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The response uses some relevant task vocabulary, including “centrally located,” “extended,” “reception,” and “changing room,” so the reader can recognise several features of the plans. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, spelling and collocation errors reduce clarity: “post reconstruction and transfer” does not accurately describe redevelopment, while “the sport will look much different” is imprecise. Forms such as “universities sports facility” and “25 meterpoool” also show weak control of spelling and word formation. Aim for precise map language such as “redeveloped,” “expanded,” “to the west of,” and “will be converted into.” Check spelling carefully and avoid repeating broad terms such as “features” when naming specific facilities.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt to combine information in longer sentences, including a comparison introduced by “while” and a future clause beginning “as it will be extended.” However, these structures are often faulty or incomplete, and the limited range makes relationships between features hard to follow. For example, “gym and reception on currently situated to the north and south” has an incorrect verb construction, while “if the entrance to this facilities is located” uses an unsuitable conditional and has agreement problems. The final sentence is unfinished. Sentence boundaries and punctuation are also inconsistent, as in the opening overview. Build accuracy first with complete simple sentences, then add controlled clauses using “while,” “whereas” and “will be.”
