Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the main contrast between the current centre and its planned redevelopment, and several details are accurate: the outdoor courts are to the west and east, the 25m pool is central, and a leisure pool and dance studios are planned. However, coverage is partial and some important changes are omitted, including the sports hall, sports shop, and the gym’s eastward extension. There is also a factual error in saying seating and a changing room are on “both sides” of the pool; seating is east and the changing room west. The overview focuses on a lack of outdoor space rather than clearly summarising the expansion and addition of facilities. Report the key changes more completely and accurately.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable introduction, overview, and body, and the contrast marker “On the other hand” helps signal the move from the present layout to future plans. However, progression is uneven: the overview repeats that there are two plans but does not clearly summarise the main changes, while the body moves between locations without a consistent route through the plans. Linking words such as “Moreover,” “Furthermore,” and “After that” are repeated and sometimes do not show a precise relationship between details. The final sentence, “Reception is in the centre,” feels abrupt and leaves the future description unfinished. Organise each paragraph by plan or by direction, and use clearer references to connect locations.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for describing plans, including “outdoor courts,” “leisure pool,” “dance studio,” and “located.” However, the range is limited and several choices are inaccurate or unnatural for this task. “We manufacture the development” does not express the intended idea, and “two sides of picture” is vague. Phrases such as “playing games and fun” and “infront of pool which space is 25m” also make the description difficult to interpret. Spelling and word-form slips, including “wee,” further reduce precision. Build a bank of map-description language and choose terms that identify facilities and positions precisely, rather than relying on general phrases about games or development.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts some longer sentences using connectors such as “Moreover” and “Furthermore,” but control is weak, and many sentences contain errors in basic sentence structure. For example, “In present university have two outdoor courts” lacks a clear subject and article, while “we will do some new development” has an awkward verb construction. There are also problems with articles, agreement, and prepositions, as in “infront of pool” and “changing room will present below the sports hall.” Punctuation spacing is inconsistent, and the final fragment, “Reception is in the centre,” is not integrated into the paragraph. Practise accurate simple location sentences first, then combine them with controlled clauses.
