Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the broad purpose of the plans and mention several major additions, including the leisure pool, sports hall and two dance studios. However, the overview is unclear and includes an inaccurate claim that the outdoor courts will be “shifted into three different sections”; they are replaced as the building expands. Important retained features, such as the 25m pool and central reception, are not reported, and some locations are confused: the café is in the south-east, while the sports shop is in the south-west. The response also contains 133 words, below the 150-word minimum. To improve, give a precise overview of the expansion and main changes, then compare the present and future layouts accurately with more supporting detail.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic sequence: an introduction, a general overview and further comments about the planned facilities. Linking expressions such as “Overall,” “In addition” and “In contrast” show an attempt to connect ideas. However, progression is difficult to follow because several changes are compressed into long, loosely connected sentences, and the contrast between current and future layouts is not consistently clear. For example, “However sports shop and cafe is there but these facilities will also be avaible in east and west side respectively” makes the locations and timing hard to understand. Use separate paragraphs for the overview and the main areas of change, and group details by location or by what remains and what is added. Use linking words only where the relationship is clear.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for describing plans, including “layout,” “redevelopment,” “leisure pool,” “sports hall” and “dance studios.” This gives the response a basic range suited to the task. However, vocabulary is often imprecise or incorrectly formed, which sometimes makes the intended meaning difficult to follow. “Shifted into three different sections” does not accurately describe the replacement of the outdoor courts, while “massive gym” is an informal and unsupported description of its planned extension. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “ilustrates,” “redevlopment,” “transfirmed” and “avaible.” Build accuracy by checking spelling and choosing precise plan-description terms such as “extended,” “replaced” and “located.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt some longer sentences and use future forms to describe the redevelopment, for example, “two dance studios will also be added.” However, the range of sentence structures is limited, and errors occur frequently in verb forms, agreement, articles and punctuation. Examples include “The plans ilustrates,” “sports hall will constructed,” and “sports shop and cafe is there.” These should use plural agreement where appropriate and a correctly formed passive, such as “will be constructed.” Commas are also missing after introductory phrases, and several clauses run together, as in “In contrast, leisure pool will take place…” Practise accurate simple sentences first, then combine them with controlled clauses and consistent future passive forms.
