Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the plans as a comparison of the current and future sports centre and mention several important additions, including the leisure pool, sports hall, shop and café. You also correctly link the leisure pool to the western outdoor courts. However, the account is only partial: it omits major changes such as the two dance studios and the gym’s eastward extension, and does not clearly explain that the building expands over both sets of outdoor courts. Some locations are misreported: the shop and café are not on either side of the entrance; they are in the south-west and south-east areas, respectively. The overview is also vague and the central facilities that remain unchanged are not identified. Covering the main changes more accurately and selectively would strengthen the summary.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has an opening, an overview and further paragraphs, so there is some attempt to organise the comparison. However, progression is limited because the same additions—the leisure pool and sports hall—are repeated in the overview and again in the next paragraph without adding much detail. Linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “Furthermore,” and “Although” do not always show a clear relationship between ideas; in particular, “Although” introduces no contrasting clause. The final paragraph combines several locations and changes in a way that makes the layout difficult to follow. Grouping information by area, such as west, centre and east, and using clear comparisons between the two plans would create a more logical progression.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for describing plans, including “layout,” “redevelopment,” “leisure pool,” and “sports hall,” and the reader can generally identify the facilities you mean. However, the range is limited and several phrases are imprecise or repetitive, such as “major change” and “developed” for facilities that are planned or added. There are also noticeable spelling and word-form errors, including “futue,” “anothe,” “ther,” and “righ,” which reduce the accuracy and polish of the description. Some collocations, such as “center poll,” are unclear. Use more precise plan-description language and check spelling carefully to make the locations and changes easier to understand.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts a few longer structures, including “which will be developed on the west outdoor courts” and “Although two changing room is mapped…,” but these are often faulty. Errors occur frequently in agreement, articles, verb forms and sentence construction: “The architecture plans shows” should use a plural subject with “show,” while “there is many changes” requires “there are.” The phrase “planned to developed in on” also has an incorrect verb pattern and prepositions. Punctuation and capitalisation are inconsistent, and the final sentence beginning “Although” is incomplete in its logic. These errors sometimes make relationships between features difficult to follow. Practise accurate simple comparisons first, then add subordinate clauses with correct verb forms.
