Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the two plans and report several relevant features, including the central 25m pool, the gym to its north, the changing room and seating on either side, and the outdoor courts in the current layout. You also recognise that the pool, reception, changing room and seating remain, and mention planned additions. However, the account is only partial: the future description stops mid-sentence and omits important changes such as the sports hall’s position, the two dance studios, and the café and additional changing room. The overview is also unclear, particularly the claim that a “sports center” is being added. To make the summary more complete, give a clear overview of the expansion and describe the main new facilities and their locations accurately.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is an attempt to organise the response with an opening, an overview and location-based details, and words such as “Overall” and “Moreover” signal some progression. However, the sequence is difficult to follow because the overview and details overlap, and the future-plan paragraph ends with “are located” without completing the idea. Several sentences begin with “And,” while repeated references to “present” and “future” do not always clarify which plan is being described. Paragraphing does not yet create a clear progression from the main changes to supporting comparisons. Use one paragraph for the overview, then separate paragraphs for the current layout and the proposed changes, linking each location to the relevant plan.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The response uses some relevant plan vocabulary, including “25m pool,” “reception,” “outdoor courts,” “leisure pool” and “sports hall,” so the reader can identify several facilities. However, the range is limited and some wording is repetitive or imprecise: “layout” appears twice in the opening, and “other little things” is too vague for an academic summary. “Sports center” is also used where the intended feature may be the gym, creating confusion. Spelling errors such as “Frthermore” and “Changiong” further reduce accuracy. Build a more precise set of terms for describing facilities and spatial changes, and check spelling and collocations before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, and some basic location relationships are understandable, for example, “the gym in the northern side” and “seating area are located in the east.” However, grammatical errors are frequent and sometimes make relationships unclear. Examples include the incomplete sentence “Here a comparison between…” and the unfinished final clause, “dance studio and sports hall are located.” Verb forms and agreement are also unreliable: “the university sport center adding” and “changing room are located.” Articles and sentence boundaries need attention as well. Practise complete subject–verb sentences and consistent present/future forms, such as “The centre will add…” and “The changing rooms are located…,” then proofread for agreement and punctuation.
