Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You identify the two plans and give a basic overview, noting that the former outdoor-court areas are incorporated and that several central facilities remain unchanged. However, the report is only minimally developed: it gives little accurate detail about the redevelopment, such as the leisure pool, sports hall, dance studios, café, and added changing rooms. The description of the present layout also misplaces the changing room: it is west of the 25m pool, not to the left of reception. The final sentence breaks off at “On the West of the”, leaving the future plan largely undescribed. The response is also 10 words below the required minimum. To improve, complete the comparison and select the main additions and their locations.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is a basic paragraph structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate descriptions of the present and future layouts. This gives the reader some sense of how the response is organised. However, progression is weak because the future-plan paragraph ends abruptly, and most of the redevelopment is not connected into a complete account. Some references are unclear, particularly “after the Reception” when describing the pool’s position. The repeated use of simple location statements also makes the report feel like a list rather than a connected comparison. Organise the details by area or by what stays and what changes, and use clear links such as “while,” “in contrast,” and “to the east” to guide the reader.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant basic terms for describing a plan, including “layout,” “located,” “situated,” and compass directions such as “West” and “East.” These make the general subject understandable. However, the vocabulary is repetitive, and the response does not use enough precise language to describe the planned facilities and changes. There are also noticeable spelling and word-choice errors, including “enterance,” “furute,” and “Sport Centre.” More accurate, varied expressions for spatial relationships and redevelopment would make the report clearer and more suitable for an academic summary. For example, describe facilities as being “added,” “retained,” or “replaced,” and use “to the west of” rather than repeatedly relying on “on the left.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response mainly uses simple sentences and attempts a few longer structures, such as “Changing room is situated on the left side of the Reception, whereas Seating is located on the Right side.” However, grammatical errors occur frequently enough to make some relationships unclear. In the overview, “both outdoor courts … has been attached” has subject–verb disagreement and an unsuitable verb form; “the … pool remains” also needs plural agreement with the list of facilities. The phrase “after the Reception” does not clearly express the pool’s position, and the final sentence is incomplete. Use complete sentences, check agreement when the subject is plural, and practise accurate comparative and location structures before adding more complex clauses.
