Student answer (Band 5.5)
The University sports centre redevelopment layout plan done, now we will compare how it is different or beneficial then present layout.
Lets start with present condition, where we can see a short reception area with door on its bothside. left door is going to charging room whlie right one is going to seating area and between them there is a 25m pool. behind pool there is a gym which has no ectrance so no one can get in their. On left and right of centre we can see outdoor courts must for games like baseball, basketball etc.
Now discuss the future plan where we see a wider reception area with a sports shop and cafe area in it. Where athletics can buy their sports good and eat for recovery respectively. On leftside of centre where we have outdoors court will change into leisure pool with another changing room with it. On rightside outdoor area redeveloped into an sports hall alongside with dance studio which a brilliant development for future and gym became more wider with entrance for itself.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the main contrast between the current centre and its planned expansion, and mention several relevant features, including the leisure pool, sports hall, dance studio, shop and café. However, some details are inaccurate or unclear: the reception does not have two doors leading to the changing room and seating, and the future plan adds two dance studios, not one. The gym is already present; it is extended eastward rather than simply becoming wider with a new entrance. The overview is also limited: state clearly that the building expands over the outdoor courts and summarise the major additions. Comments such as the courts being for particular sports and the development being “brilliant” are not shown by the plans. More precise, objective reporting would strengthen coverage.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic, useful sequence: it first describes the present layout and then moves to the future plan. Paragraph breaks and phrases such as “Lets start with present condition” and “Now discuss the future plan” help signal this shift. However, the opening does not provide a clear overview, and some sentences combine several locations or ideas, making the spatial relationships harder to follow. For example, the description of doors, the changing room, seating and pool is confusing, while “On rightside outdoor area redeveloped…” lacks a clear link to the previous point. Use a more consistent order—central features, then west and east—and connect comparisons directly rather than relying mainly on formulaic transitions.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant vocabulary for describing facilities, including “reception area,” “25m pool,” “leisure pool,” “sports hall” and “dance studio.” This gives the reader a basic understanding of the plans. However, word choice and spelling errors are noticeable and sometimes make the description less clear: “charging room” is used for “changing room,” “outdoors court” is imprecise, and “sports good” is not the natural phrase. Informal or evaluative wording such as “brilliant development” and “must for games” is not suitable for an objective report. Aim for accurate location language and collocations, such as “to the west of,” “is replaced by,” and “facilities are added.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, and the reader can generally follow the broad comparison. However, control is inconsistent, with frequent errors in sentence construction, verb forms, articles and punctuation. For example, “The University sports centre redevelopment layout plan done” is not a complete, well-formed opening sentence, and “On leftside of centre where we have outdoors court will change” has an unclear subject and verb structure. There are also problems with agreement and articles in “an sports hall,” as well as run-on phrasing in the future-plan paragraph. Use complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check articles, plurals and punctuation. A few accurate complex sentences would help express the spatial changes more clearly.
