Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the main contrast: the centre is set to expand, with new facilities replacing the outdoor courts, and you mention several future additions, including the leisure pool, sports hall, dance studios, café and shop. However, some locations are confused or unclear. In the present plan, the entrance leads to reception at the south; seating is east of the pool and the changing room is west, rather than simply “right” and “left” without a clear orientation. In the future description, the leisure pool is on the west, while the sports shop and changing room are in the south-west; the café and another changing room are in the south-east. Your overview is also limited, and the personal opinion that the plans are “much better” is not needed. A clearer overview and accurate, organised comparisons would strengthen coverage.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is an attempt to separate the present layout from the future plans, and words such as “Although,” “As a result,” and “secondly” show an effort to connect ideas. However, the progression is difficult to follow because several facilities are packed into long, loosely connected sentences. For example, the future-plan sentence beginning “entre to reception left side…” moves between the café, changing rooms, dance studios, sports hall, seating and gym without clear relationships. “Secondly” introduces a new area, but the reader must infer which side is being described. Use separate paragraphs for the current and proposed layouts, then group details by west, centre and east. Clear location phrases and fewer, more controlled linking expressions would make the comparison easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for describing a plan, including “outdoor courts,” “seating area,” “sports hall” and “dance studio,” so the reader can identify many facilities. However, the range of descriptive language is limited, and several choices are inaccurate or informal for an academic report. Phrases such as “big space,” “very different,” and “much better” do not precisely describe the layout, while “right side” and “left side” are less reliable than compass directions. There are also noticeable spelling and word-form problems, including “entre,” “corridooors” and “im taking about,” which can distract from the information. Practise precise terms for position and change, such as “to the west of,” “is replaced by,” and “is extended.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
Your response attempts to combine ideas, for example with “Although” and “because,” but sentence structures are limited and many sentences are difficult to interpret because of frequent grammatical errors. The opening, “hey, today im taking about,” lacks a clear subject-verb structure and appropriate punctuation. In “future plans of university sports centre is very different,” the subject and verb do not agree, and articles are often missing, as in “in present sports centre.” Tense and sentence boundaries are also inconsistent, with fragments and run-on sequences in the descriptions of both plans. Build accurate simple sentences first, using present tense for the existing layout and future forms for the redevelopment, then connect them with controlled clauses.
