Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
You give a clear overview of the main transformation: the centre expands indoors, the outdoor courts are removed, and several central facilities remain. The present layout is described accurately, including the pool’s position and the gym, seating and changing room around it. You also report the key additions, such as the leisure pool, sports hall, dance studios, café and new changing rooms. This addresses the task well and selects relevant features. However, some details are less fully developed: the gym’s planned eastward extension and the sports hall’s position east of the seating are not stated, and the future layout is described somewhat generally as the eastern court being replaced by the sports hall. More precise comparisons of the new arrangement would strengthen the account.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall progression: an introduction and overview are followed by a paragraph on the current plan and one on the redevelopment. This makes the comparison easy to follow, and location language such as “on the east side” and “south-east corner” helps organise the details. The overview also gives the reader a useful framework before the specific descriptions. To make the organisation more consistently smooth, use linking and reference more precisely. For example, “On the eastern side court will replaced…” is difficult to process, and repeated openings with “While” do not always connect ideas effectively. Grouping the future features by west, centre and east, and using clearer transitions between those areas, would improve cohesion.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for describing plans, including “layout,” “redevelopment,” “flanked,” “replaced” and “south-east corner.” These terms help convey the main spatial changes, and the meaning is generally clear. There are, however, some inaccurate or awkward choices and forms: “sports Centre” is inconsistently capitalised, “sport shops” is not the natural label, and “big sports hall” is less precise than a neutral description of the facility. “In front of entrance” also does not clearly express the reception’s position. Aim for consistent facility names and more exact spatial phrasing, such as “the sports centre,” “a sports shop,” and “to the south of the entrance.” This would make the description more precise and natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including the overview’s contrast between planned changes and facilities that remain, and the clause beginning “with a new changing room…”. The main relationships are usually understandable, but errors in articles, agreement, verb forms and sentence construction recur. Examples include “the present the layout,” “the central… remain same,” “the both outdoor courts,” and “will replaced.” Some sentences also lack a clear grammatical structure, particularly “On the eastern side court will replaced by big sports hall and added two dance studios…”. Practise complete clauses with accurate auxiliaries and articles—for example, “The eastern court will be replaced by a sports hall, and two dance studios will be added.” More reliable control of these patterns would improve accuracy.
