Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You identify the main overall changes: the centre expands, the 25-metre pool and several existing facilities remain, and new leisure and commercial areas are introduced. These are relevant features, and the comparison between the present and proposed layouts is clear in broad terms. However, some details are inaccurate or too general. The future plan adds a leisure pool, not a “leisure room”; the gym extends eastward rather than simply increasing in size; and the two dance studios are not clearly reported. The statement that the centre expands “into each directions” also obscures that it takes over the outdoor courts on both sides. To strengthen the response, describe the key locations more precisely and distinguish the facilities that remain from those added or replaced.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, a paragraph on the current layout and one on the future plan. This gives the reader a basic progression from present to proposed arrangements, and linking expressions such as “Overall,” “In the future” and “Moreover” help signal shifts. Some connections are nevertheless mechanical or unclear. For example, “In the centre of pool divided into three sides” does not clearly explain the arrangement, while “Instead of outdoor courts, they will make…” groups several new facilities without showing where each will be located. The overview also repeats information later without adding much comparison. Use clearer spatial sequencing—such as west, centre and east—and connect each facility to its position to make the comparison easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for describing plans, including “outdoor courts,” “reception area,” “expand” and “remain,” so the reader can understand the general changes. However, the range and precision are limited, and several choices are inaccurate or unnatural for this task. “Leisure room” misnames the leisure pool, “sport centre” is less appropriate than “sports centre,” and “sports attraction” does not clearly describe facilities. Phrases such as “available west and east sides” and “new areas” are also imprecise. Aim for accurate map vocabulary and natural collocations, for example “located to the west and east,” “facilities” and “is replaced by.” This would make the description more precise without requiring unnecessarily complex vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, including “The size of pool, reception, changing room and seating will remain same but gym size will increase.” The main meaning is usually recoverable, but grammatical control is uneven: articles are often missing (“the university’s sports centre,” “the pool”), and several sentences have faulty structure, such as “In the centre of pool divided into three sides.” There are also errors in agreement and verb forms, as in “two more changing room will add” and “sports shop and cafe will available.” Punctuation and spacing around commas are inconsistent. Practise building accurate sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check articles, plurals and future passive forms—for example, “Two changing rooms will be added.”
