Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the main contrast between the current centre and the planned redevelopment, and accurately report several key locations: the 25m pool remains central, the gym is to expand, and new facilities include dance studios, a café, a sports shop and a leisure pool. However, some important details are missing or unclear. For example, the future sports hall and the two new changing rooms are not located, and the expansion of the building over the former outdoor courts is not explained. The statement that the centre is “not too much” advanced is also a vague overview rather than a clear summary of the scale and direction of change. Develop the overview around the building’s expansion and the addition of facilities, then describe the main changes by area.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has an overall structure: it introduces the plans, describes the present layout, and then contrasts it with the future one. This gives the reader a basic progression through the information. However, the organisation within paragraphs is less controlled, and several ideas are joined mechanically with “However” or “In contrast.” For instance, the final paragraph lists new facilities in one long sequence, making their locations and relationships difficult to follow. Some references, such as “the opposite side,” are not fully clear without careful rereading. Grouping the future changes by west, centre and east, and using clearer links such as “Meanwhile” or “To the east,” would make the comparison easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for describing plans, including “in the middle,” “east side,” “outdoor courts,” “changing room” and “expand.” These terms help communicate the basic layout. However, the range is limited and several word-choice and spelling errors make the description less precise, including “advace,” “coutrs,” “lesiure” and “university sport centre.” Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “the future plans will advanced” and “the interesting part the gym area.” Use accurate facility names and more precise language for change and location, such as “is extended,” “is replaced by,” and “in the south-east corner.” Proofreading spelling and collocations would improve clarity.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, and the basic meaning is usually recoverable. However, errors in sentence structure, verb forms, agreement and punctuation are noticeable. For example, “the present university sport centre are” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “the future plans will advaced” lacks a correctly formed verb. The opening sentence is also difficult to parse because “While” is used without a clear clause structure. Several sentences run together, as in the final paragraph, where full stops and commas are needed to separate ideas. Practise forming clear present and future passive sentences, such as “The gym will be extended,” and check agreement and sentence boundaries.
