Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the main comparison: the centre expands and gains facilities, and you describe several present-day locations, including the pool, changing room, seating and outdoor courts. However, the overview repeats that the plans compare the centre rather than summarising the key changes. Some future details are vague or missing: the gym extends east, the sports hall is east of the seating, and new changing rooms are added in both the south-west and south-east. The phrase “cafe will be add or sports shop be add” is also unclear and does not accurately report the separate additions. To strengthen the response, give a concise overview of the expansion and major new facilities, then describe their positions precisely.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has separate paragraphs for the introduction, overview, present layout and future plan, so the reader can recognise its basic organisation. However, progression is limited because the overview largely repeats the introduction, and the final paragraph lists additions without a clear spatial sequence. Linking phrases such as “The first thing” and repeated use of “will be add” do not clearly show how the features relate to one another. Some references are also unclear, particularly “the east corner” and “the right side of seating place.” Organise the future features by area—for example, west, centre and east—and use precise location links such as “to the east of” or “in the south-east corner.”
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for describing plans, including “redevelopment,” “situated,” “outdoor courts,” “leisure pool” and “sports hall.” This gives you a basic range for the task, but repetition and inaccurate collocations limit precision. “The structure of University” is not a natural way to refer to the facility, while “seating place” and “the first thing” are imprecise. The phrase “cafe will be add or sports shop be add” makes the intended information difficult to follow. Aim to use the exact facility names and concise map language, such as “the centre will be expanded” and “a sports shop will be added.” Check spelling and word forms, including “will,” “café” and “added.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer structures, and the reader can generally identify the facilities being described. However, grammatical errors occur frequently and sometimes make relationships difficult to understand. Examples include “The University sports centre present look,” “The first thing is area … will be increase,” and “two dance studio will be add.” These show problems with sentence construction, articles, agreement, plurals and passive verb forms. The present-layout sentence beginning “when you enter” also shifts into direct address rather than maintaining a clear map description. Practise accurate patterns such as “The centre currently has…” and “A café will be added…” before combining them into longer sentences.
