Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify several relevant features, including the reception, central 25m pool, seating, changing room, leisure pool, sports hall, dance studios, café and sports shop. You also make some comparisons between the present and future layouts. However, the response mainly describes a route through the centre rather than summarising its main changes, and there is no clear overview of the redevelopment. Some details are inaccurate or unsupported: for example, you say the dance studios are “for grils,” and the future layout’s expanded gym and the replacement of the outdoor courts are not reported. To strengthen the response, state the major changes first, then describe the new facilities and the areas that remain in their original positions.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The response follows a basic sequence, moving from the present plan to the future plan and then describing locations around the reception. This gives the reader some sense of how the facilities relate to one another. However, nearly all the information is presented as one long chain, with repeated links such as “and,” “then,” and “near by.” This makes the progression difficult to follow, and references such as “we go to the right side” are not always clear about which point on the plan is being used. Organise the answer into separate paragraphs for the current layout and proposed changes, and use clear location phrases such as “to the east of the pool” to guide the reader.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “reception,” “25m pool,” “changing room,” “sports hall,” and “leisure pool,” so the reader can recognise many of the facilities. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, especially “near,” “side,” and “there are.” Spelling errors such as “universty,” “seeting,” and “chaning” also make the description less clear. Some expressions are imprecise for a plan description: “we enter” and “we see” narrate a visit rather than report locations. Build a more varied set of accurate terms for position and change, such as “adjacent to,” “in the south-east corner,” and “will be added.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts to connect ideas in longer sentences, but sentence structures are very limited and frequently faulty, which sometimes makes relationships between facilities hard to understand. For example, “the rigth side of pool were seeting the people in thier” lacks a clear grammatical structure, while “the left side of the pool is the changing room” does not consistently express the intended location. Verb forms and agreement also cause problems, as in “we well go” and “there are sport hall.” Punctuation is largely absent, so several separate ideas run together. Use short, complete sentences with a consistent present tense for the existing plan and “will” for proposed changes, checking articles, agreement and sentence boundaries.
