Student answer (Band 6.0)
The maps illustruatre the current university sports centre and the future plan for it to renovate.
The current model has a separate outdoor courts while the new model suggests to attach the outdoor courts with main area and also some extra space for other activities like dance studio ,sports hall, cafe and many changing room.
In the current sport centre on the far east and west sides there are outdoor courts while enteing the reception and passing by it there is a 25 metere pool in the centre and on the left side is a changing room and on the right a seating area while on the north side there is a gym.
However in the future model of sports centre the outdoor courts are merged with the main area by adding spaces for leisure pool and besides it a separate changing room for it while the centre reamains the same exept the gym area is expanded and by entering the reception gate a sports shop on the left and cafe on the right is proposed also on the eastern side rooms for dance studio and oposite to it a sport hall is designed .
the new model is more carefuuly designed in which every section is designed for students in a small space and in a proper way.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You identify the main transformation: the outdoor courts are incorporated into an enlarged building, with new facilities such as a leisure pool, sports hall, dance studios, shop and café. You also accurately describe several existing features and note that the central pool and reception remain. This gives the response a relevant overview and covers both plans. However, some details are unclear or inaccurate: the future plan has two dance studios along the eastern wall, not simply rooms opposite the sports hall, and the gym extends eastward rather than just being described as expanded. The final claim that the design fits every section into “a small space” is not clearly supported by the plans. More precise comparisons and a clearer account of the new south-east and south-west facilities would strengthen the report.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response follows a broadly sensible order, describing the current layout before moving to the proposed changes, and uses contrast markers such as “while” and “However” to connect the two plans. The opening also gives the reader a general sense of the redevelopment. However, most information is compressed into a few very long sentences, so relationships between locations and changes are sometimes difficult to follow. For example, the sentence beginning “However in the future model” combines the leisure pool, gym, shop, café, dance studios and sports hall without clear separation. Divide the response into distinct paragraphs for the overview, current plan and future plan, and use clearer location-based sequencing. This would make the progression easier to follow and reduce reliance on repeated “and” and “while.”
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of facility and layout vocabulary, including “outdoor courts,” “reception,” “seating area,” “leisure pool” and “expanded.” These terms help communicate the main features. However, several word choices or collocations are imprecise, such as “the current model,” “attach the outdoor courts with main area,” and “passing by it,” which make the description less natural or exact. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “illustruatre,” “metere,” “reamains” and “carefuuly.” Aim for accurate, conventional map-description language, such as “the existing layout,” “incorporate the former court areas into the building,” and “to the north of.” Proofreading spelling and choosing precise spatial expressions would improve clarity.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt to combine ideas using subordinate clauses and contrast, for example in “while entering the reception…” and “while the centre remains the same…,” so there is some variety beyond simple sentences. However, complex sentences are often difficult to control because several clauses are joined together without clear punctuation. The opening phrase “The maps illustrate the current university sports centre and the future plan for it to renovate” also has an unclear grammatical construction. Articles and sentence boundaries need attention, as in “on far east and west sides” and the long sentence beginning “However in the future model.” Use shorter, complete sentences and check that each clause has a clear subject and verb. More accurate punctuation and sentence structure would make the comparisons easier to understand.
