Student answer (Band 5.0)

Introduction

The chart shows the two maps of a university sports center .

Over view

According to chart this is a central idea to renovate a sports center of a universty .

DETAIL

The main idea of this chart is to renovate a sports center in the university.Because I think the athorties thinks the current building is to short and do not complete modern days requriments . In old building there is a reception in front and having a swimming pool of 25 meters with a setting area and also having a gym and a changing room in left and having 2 out door courts one in west and one in east . On the other hand, the future map is quite good the athorities add some more fituers like cafe and two dance studios in the east and add a big leisure pool with a changing room . In my point of view the new plan to renovate university sports center is brillient.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the broad purpose of the plans and report several accurate features of the current centre, including the 25-metre pool, reception, gym, changing room, seating and outdoor courts on both sides. You also mention some future additions, such as the café, dance studios and leisure pool. However, the response only partially compares the two layouts: important changes such as the sports hall, added changing rooms and sports shop, and the gym’s eastward extension are omitted. The overview is vague, and comments such as “the current building is to short” and “the new plan … is brillient” are personal speculation or opinion rather than a summary of the visual information. Focus on the main spatial changes and describe them objectively.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has an identifiable introduction, overview and detail section, and the phrase “On the other hand” signals a shift from the present layout to the future plan. However, the overview repeats the general idea of renovation rather than summarising the main changes, so the information does not progress clearly from an overall comparison to selected details. Most of the description is packed into one long sentence, joined repeatedly with “and,” which makes relationships between features difficult to follow. The headings also do not create clear paragraph development. Organise the response into distinct paragraphs: an introduction, a concise overview, and a comparison of the western and eastern changes.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for describing plans, including “reception,” “swimming pool,” “outdoor courts,” “leisure pool” and “dance studios,” so the reader can recognise several facilities. However, the range is limited and some choices are imprecise or informal for an academic report. “The chart” is not the best description of two plans, while “quite good” and “brilliant” express personal judgement rather than layout information. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “universty,” “athorties,” “requriments” and “fituers,” which reduce clarity and control. Build a more precise set of terms for location and change, such as “to the east of,” “is retained,” and “is added.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, and the main message is generally understandable. However, the range is limited, and the long sentence beginning “In old building there is a reception” contains repeated structural problems: missing articles, awkward verb forms and several clauses joined without clear control. Other examples include “the athorities add” and “the current building is to short,” where tense or sentence construction is faulty. Punctuation and spacing are also inconsistent, as in “university.Because.” Practise accurate present-tense descriptions for the existing plan and future forms for proposed changes, using shorter sentences and checking articles and subject–verb agreement.
