Student answer (Band 5.5)

In today's world of advancement in the agricultural sector, most of the people who practice agriculture are still suffering from hunger. WHile there are a lot of modern tools and technologies available for agriculture there are several factors that come into play why people suffer from famine most notably environmental factors where the result of the increasing global warming cause s disasters which destroys vegetation and settlement and also the government initiatives for agricultural sector lack poor direction.

With regard to why this is happening most notably it is due to the interplay of ecological and climate change factors. People practising agriculture tend to raise their crops and yield to riverbeds which is prone to disasters such as flood. But due to the convenience of irrigation facilities they are ought to settle there. The increasing global warming caused by the big projects of first world countries tend to cause such diasters sweeping away whole settlements and their vegetation and livestock which causes a great amount of grief and suffering. Besides that in poor countries people only perform sustenance agriculture where they barely have anything to fill themselves> This doesnt help when government do not have rigid policies and initiatives.

In order to tackle this problem government is required to provide subsidies for farmers in the form of better tools, access to irrigation, agricultural loans as well as a rigid policy to reduce environmenal pollution.

In conclusion, despite advances in agricultural field many people are still suffering from hunger. Government should make an effort to increase the nation's produce by focusing on important initiatives to eardicate this problem.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both questions: you identify climate-related disasters and weak government support as causes, then suggest subsidies, irrigation access, loans, and pollution controls. These are relevant responses, but the explanation is only partly developed. For example, the discussion of farmers settling near riverbeds explains flood exposure, yet the link between agricultural advances and hunger worldwide is not fully explored. The claim that projects in wealthy countries cause disasters is also broad and would be stronger with a specific example or clearer explanation. Your proposed measures are listed rather than showing how they would improve food access or reduce hunger. A clearer, sustained position and more developed examples would make the response more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, a paragraph on causes, a paragraph on solutions, and a conclusion. This helps the reader follow the broad direction of your answer. However, progression within paragraphs is uneven: the causes paragraph moves from riverbeds and floods to global warming, then subsistence farming and government policy without clearly showing how each point connects. Linking phrases such as “Besides that” and “In order to tackle this problem” provide some signposting, but connections are sometimes mechanical or unclear. The introduction also combines several ideas in a long sentence, making the main argument harder to identify. Group related causes together and use clearer references and transitions to show how each point supports your answer.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some topic-relevant vocabulary, including “irrigation facilities,” “subsistence agriculture,” “subsidies,” and “agricultural loans,” which helps communicate the subject. There are also attempts at less common expressions, but several choices or collocations are inaccurate or awkward, such as “raise their crops and yield to riverbeds,” “rigid policies,” and “increase the nation's produce.” Spelling errors, including “diasters,” “environmenal,” and “eardicate,” are noticeable and reduce precision. Some wording is also repetitive, particularly references to “government” and “problem.” Aim for more natural combinations such as “grow crops near riverbeds,” “effective policies,” and “increase national food production,” and proofread carefully for spelling.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “while,” “where,” and “which.” This gives the response some structural variety, but complex sentences are often difficult to control. For example, “the result of the increasing global warming cause s disasters which destroys vegetation” has problems with agreement and clause structure, while “This doesnt help when government do not have” also contains agreement and punctuation errors. Sentence boundaries and punctuation are inconsistent, and the long opening sentence makes relationships between ideas unclear. Work on building accurate sentences before extending them: check subject–verb agreement, use complete clauses, and separate closely related ideas with appropriate punctuation. More reliable control of these patterns would improve clarity.
