Student answer (Band 5.0)

It is often argued, that despite significant development in agriculture and food production, there are still alot of people who are suffering hunger. This problem is mainly caused by politics, poverty, and climate change. These kind of factors, are the main case of why people still cannot fulfill their basic needs of food. However, many practices by the goverment, and international organizations, can help us facing this problem.

Many new, techonlogical progress have been made in agriculture sector such as fertilizers, tools and machinery.Farmers can produce enough food by using these things. But, farming is costly nowadays, which effects the prices of food.As we know, that many counrtries are going into wars with each other which effects the food supply and also their prices can go up.Poverty is also the main problem, why many people cannot get enough food. Despite the agricultral advancements, the progress have not been made at the problem of how people can earn to buy their food.Government sectors, are not providing enough jobs and pay so people can easily afford their groceries.

However,if government take some steps, such as providing enough jobs and pay enough that can solve the problem. Furthermore, international organization should help and made plans how people can get food easily worldwide, such as they can help clearing the transport problems when there is political wars.

In conclusion, hunger continues affect many people

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify several relevant causes—poverty, conflict, and climate change—and suggest government employment support and international aid, so both questions receive some attention. However, the response is only partially developed: climate change is named but not explained, and the proposed actions are brief, with little detail about how they would improve access to food. The claim that farming costs raise food prices is relevant, but it would be stronger with a clear example or explanation of who is most affected. The conclusion is incomplete and does not summarise the main points. The response also falls 26 words short of the required minimum, limiting the space available to develop your ideas. Explain each cause and solution more fully and finish with a complete conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph on causes, a paragraph on solutions, and a conclusion. This helps the reader follow the broad direction of your answer. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear, and several ideas are placed together without showing their relationship—for example, agricultural costs, war, and poverty appear in quick succession. Linking expressions such as “However” and “Furthermore” are used, but some transitions feel mechanical or do not clearly connect the ideas. Punctuation and spacing also interrupt the flow. Organise the causes and solutions into clearly focused paragraphs, use linking phrases to show cause and effect, and complete the final paragraph so the essay has a clear ending.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “food production,” “fertilizers,” “food supply,” “poverty,” and “international organizations,” which makes the subject clear. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors make parts less natural or occasionally harder to understand. Examples include “the main case” for “the main cause,” “facing this problem” where “addressing this problem” is more suitable, and “political wars,” which is unclear in context. There are also misspellings such as “alot,” “techonlogical,” and “goverment.” Build a more precise set of phrases for food insecurity and policy responses, and proofread spelling and word forms carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including clauses beginning with “despite” and “which,” but control is inconsistent. Errors occur frequently in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence boundaries. For example, “These kind of factors, are” should be “These kinds of factors are,” and “if government take” needs a plural subject or an article and the correct verb form. In “the progress have not been made,” the subject and verb do not agree. Commas also separate subjects from verbs, while missing spaces after full stops make sentence boundaries difficult to read. Practise checking each sentence for a clear subject and correctly matched verb, then review punctuation and article use.
