Student answer (Band 6.0)

Despite of significant advancements in agricultural technologies and food production, millions of people around the world continue to suffer from hunger. This eassy will discuss the main reasons behind the situation and also suggest some solutions to address it.

The main reason has to be proverty and rising prices of the food. In most of the developing countries, citizen can not afford to buy suficient amount of food because of the rising prices, due to that they has to suffer from hunger. The prices of rice, vegetables or other essential food items has increased as a result families are facing difficulties to buy enough groceries. For example, my friend who belong to a lower middle class family, told me that how prices are rising day by day moreover it gets difficult for his parents to buy weekly groceries for the family. Sometimes they had to sleep without having proper meal.

Furthermore, climate changes and natural disasters is another crutial reason for hunger. Since flood ,droughts and other natural disasters destroy crops as a result farmers struggle to produce sufficient food which is one of the main reasons why people continue to experience hunger. For instance, if crops don't receieve enough water and are not grown in suitable environment, this can result in lower agricultural production and crop damage.

To tackle these problems, Government and International organisation should take several measures such as, climate resistant farming methods, farmers should be encouraged to adopt modern agricultural technologies. Additionally, government should provide financial support to low income families.

In conclusion, although agricultural development has increased food production while proverty, climate and high price related problems remain major causes of hunger.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both questions by identifying poverty and rising food prices, then climate-related crop damage, and by proposing support for low-income families and climate-resilient farming. These are relevant causes and responses, and the examples about grocery costs and damaged crops help illustrate them. However, the solutions are less fully explained than the causes: for example, you name financial support and modern farming methods but do not show how these measures would reach hungry communities or improve access to food. The discussion of climate also focuses mainly on production, while the poverty paragraph focuses on affordability. Develop the links between each cause and a practical response, and explain your examples more precisely, to make the answer more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two paragraphs explaining causes, a paragraph proposing solutions, and a conclusion. The progression from affordability to climate impacts is easy to follow, and signposts such as “Furthermore,” “To tackle these problems,” and “In conclusion” help guide the reader. This already gives the essay a coherent arrangement. Some connections within sentences are less controlled, however: “The prices … has increased as a result families…” joins ideas without clear punctuation, and “Since flood, droughts … as a result” makes the relationship cumbersome. The solutions paragraph also introduces several measures in quick succession without explaining how they connect to the causes. Use clearer sentence boundaries and link each proposed measure explicitly to the problem it addresses.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “agricultural technologies,” “natural disasters,” “sufficient food,” and “financial support.” These terms make the subject clear, and phrases such as “crop damage” and “rising prices” are relevant to the discussion. There are also some inaccurate word choices, spelling errors, and collocations that reduce precision: “proverty” should be “poverty,” “crutial” should be “crucial,” and “climate resistant farming methods” would be more naturally expressed as “climate-resilient farming methods.” “The main reason has to be” is also awkward in this context. Aim to check spelling carefully and choose precise, natural combinations of words; this will make your ideas sound more assured without requiring unnecessarily complex vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses beginning with “Since” and “if,” and the main ideas remain understandable. However, some errors in agreement, sentence structure, articles, and punctuation limit accuracy. For example, “citizen can not afford” needs a plural subject, while “they has to suffer” has incorrect subject–verb agreement. In “The prices … has increased as a result families are facing difficulties,” the verb form and sentence boundary both need correction. The opening “Despite of” also uses an incorrect grammatical pattern; use “Despite” followed by a noun phrase. Practise checking agreement and verb forms, and divide long sentences into complete clauses with appropriate punctuation. More consistently accurate complex sentences would strengthen the response.
