Student answer (Band 6.0)
Many people around the world remain hungry despite advances in agriculture. A lot of situations may be responsible for this, but I think this could be mostly a result of a lack of transportation and good roads, and a lack of support from the government.
Firstly, majority of people mostly in rural area still go hungry irrespective of the advances made in agriculture owing to the fact that good and accessible roads are not in place in their community, also lack of transportation system. For example, In rural areas that are still developing, farmers from urban areas may find it very difficult to transport their products for sale because of unavaliability of good roads and a transport system.
Secondly, government because of huge responsiblities on their shoulders tend to forget to support farmers to aid them with their agricultural activities. I believe that when a farmer is empowered, he can feed a nation. Hence, it is of great necessity that farmers are provided with work tools such as tractors and irrigation systems that will enable them to function optimally.
These problems can be tackled by not only the government but also NGOs and individuals as well. The government in every rural area should endeavour to provide accessible road in rural areas so that farm products can always get to the people there. Individuals and NGOs can help by reminding the government of the need to remember people in rural area who are hungry. Moreover, farmers should be equipped with modern farming facilities at a subsidized rate or at most free of charge so as to enable them perform functionally.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both questions and maintain a clear focus on food reaching people and support for farmers. The explanation that poor roads and limited transport prevent produce from being sold is relevant, and you propose practical measures such as road building, irrigation and equipment. However, the causes are not explored equally: the government’s failure to support farmers is asserted rather than explained, and the response does not clearly distinguish hunger caused by poor distribution from insufficient food production or people’s inability to afford food. The proposed role of individuals and NGOs—“reminding the government”—is also less concrete than the infrastructure measures. Develop each main point with a fuller explanation or a specific example to make the response more convincing.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, two paragraphs explaining causes, and a final paragraph proposing solutions. “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “Moreover” help readers follow the sequence, and the ideas generally progress logically. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some flexibility in linking points. However, the links can feel mechanical, and some relationships between ideas are not expressed precisely. For example, the first cause paragraph moves from rural hunger to farmers from urban areas, which makes the example’s connection to the claim less clear. The final paragraph also combines government, NGO and individual actions without fully separating their roles. Use clearer referencing and organise each paragraph around one developed point.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range for the topic, including “agricultural activities,” “irrigation systems,” “subsidized rate” and “accessible roads.” These choices communicate the main ideas, and attempts at more formal vocabulary are evident. Some word choices and collocations are less natural or imprecise, however: “farmers from urban areas” does not clearly describe the intended group, while “perform functionally” is awkward in this context. There are also spelling errors, including “unavaliability” and “responsiblities.” These do not prevent understanding, but they limit the accuracy and control of the vocabulary. Prefer precise expressions such as “rural farmers” and “operate efficiently,” and proofread spelling and collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses with “because,” “so that” and “irrespective of,” and the meaning is generally clear. Some grammatical errors remain. For example, “majority of people” needs an article, and “in rural area” needs a plural or determiner. In “government … tend to forget,” the subject and verb do not agree, while “enable them perform” is missing “to.” The long opening sentence of the first body paragraph also joins ideas in a way that makes the structure difficult to follow. These are identifiable errors rather than barriers to understanding. Check articles, agreement and verb patterns, and divide long sentences where needed to improve accuracy.
