Student answer (Band 5.5)

Desepite the advances made in agriculture, there are individuals who suffers from hunger. This essay will discuss what are the main reasons, and what are the solutions that can be done for this topic.

A huge number of people around the world are still hungry, desepite the advance made in agriculture. One of the main reasons of this trend is that a lot of people may experience financial problemes, since almost every things in life are expensive for instance the studies of their childrens, the taxes thay have to pay, or the factures, and with the rest of their salary they may not able to buy food. For this reasons some people can not pay their food or drinks. In addition, the inflation is a trend that become increasingly common nowadays in every country. For example in Algeria a lot of products such as oil, bananas, or potatos climbed dramatically in their prices.

I think that they are several solutions about this problem, one of them is to reduce the prices of studies, food, and homes factures. As a result, both of the parents and children will be able to enjoy life, may feel relaxed and experience less tresse and pressure. Moreover, both of gouvernment and society can create associations to collect some dishes and meals for hungry individuals. This may help a lot of people such as parents who are not able to pay for their children, or students who study abroad.

In conclusion, even if there are advances made in agriculture, they will be always people around the worls who are still hungry. Because almoste all the bussines and companies rose their prices, however there are a lot of solutions for this problem.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both questions: financial hardship and inflation are offered as reasons, while lower costs and food-distribution associations are proposed as responses. The Algeria example gives one point some concrete support. However, the explanation focuses mainly on people’s inability to afford food and does not explore other important causes, such as conflict, unequal distribution, or food waste. Some proposed solutions are also under-developed: reducing the prices of “studies” and household bills is asserted without explaining how this could be achieved or how it would directly reduce hunger. The conclusion repeats the general point rather than drawing together the causes and solutions. Develop fewer ideas more fully and make the link between each proposal and hunger explicit.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, a paragraph on causes, one on solutions, and a conclusion. This makes the main direction easy to follow, and signposts such as “One of the main reasons,” “In addition,” and “Moreover” help guide the reader. The ideas within paragraphs are generally grouped appropriately. However, some linking is mechanical or unclear. For example, “For this reasons” does not clearly connect the preceding list to the claim that people cannot afford food, and “however” in the final sentence does not express a clear contrast. The introduction also promises a discussion but does not establish a precise position. Use transitions that show the exact relationship between ideas, and make references such as “they” unambiguous.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main points, including “inflation,” “agriculture,” “salary,” and “associations,” and the examples of food prices make the discussion more specific. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making the meaning less natural: “the studies of their childrens,” “homes factures,” and “collect some dishes” do not express the intended ideas clearly. Spelling errors such as “desepite,” “problemes,” “gouvernment,” and “worls” are also noticeable. Build a more precise vocabulary for food insecurity and public support, and check spelling and common word partnerships. This will help you express your ideas more clearly and avoid relying on broad phrases such as “this problem.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt some complex sentences, particularly when explaining causes with “since” and giving an example with “For example.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make parts of the response difficult to read. Subject–verb agreement is a recurring issue: “individuals who suffers” should be “individuals who suffer,” and “the inflation … become” needs a matching verb form. Other examples include “they may not able to buy food” and “there are several solutions … one of them is,” where the sentence structure or verb pattern is faulty. There are also problems with articles, plurals, and punctuation, including the long sentence listing expenses. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then add subordinate clauses and check agreement and verb forms.
