Student answer (Band 5.5)

The issue of agriculture has become a subject of considerable debate in modern society. Although there are a lot of advances made in agriculture field and which enhance the production of wheat, rice and others goods but many people around the world are still going hungry which is the alarming situation. I think governments of all over the world need to take necessary actions on it and also need to make a check and balance in it so the hunger will not increase.

To start with, the agricultural sector is developed a lot and latest machinery inhance the ability of farming and due to this improvement, field work become very easy and production of grains is increased as compared to previous ages. For instance, the tractors and other equipments has bring an ease in the life of people related to the field work because it was too time taking process to prepare a land for planting in the encient times and also the production was small because lack of knowledge and lack of facilitis.

Furthermore, as the development increase the production is also enhanced but the population is increasing more dramatically and this production of food is not enough for the people available in the world so the people are facing hunger all over the world.

Moreover, the human population is increasing day by day and this increase in the population have many effects uncluding urbanization and poverty worldwide. As the population is increasing people make colonies on the argicultural land and make houses there so the fertile land is decreasing rapidally. For example, many agricultural lands around the big cities are being converted into housing colonies so the people are facing the shortage of food and facing hunger problem.

To put in a nutshell, I sum up saying that more and more land must be used for agriculture and goverment need to prohibit to convert the agricutural land into housing colonies. In addition, more measurements are needed to protect the field from pests and differnet dseases so people can have enough food for their daily use.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both questions by identifying population growth, urban expansion onto farmland, and the need to protect agricultural land and crops. These points are relevant, and the examples of machinery and housing developments help illustrate them. However, the explanation of why hunger persists is only partly developed: the claim that food production cannot keep pace with population growth is asserted rather than supported, and the discussion does not consider other causes such as poverty, unequal distribution, conflict, or food waste. The proposed solutions are also narrow, focusing mainly on land protection and pest control without explaining how they would improve access to food. Develop fewer points more fully and connect each cause to a practical response.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate discussion of causes, and a concluding paragraph. Paragraphing generally helps the reader follow the main topics, and signposts such as “Furthermore” and “Moreover” indicate additions. However, progression is sometimes repetitive: population growth is introduced as a cause in one paragraph and then repeated at the start of the next, while the relationship between agricultural advances and continuing hunger could be made clearer. Some linking phrases are mechanical, and the conclusion introduces crop protection without developing it earlier. Organise the body around distinct causes and solutions, use references such as “this growth” clearly, and ensure each paragraph advances a new, connected point.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “agricultural sector,” “production of grains,” “fertile land,” and “urbanization,” so the reader can understand the subject. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “considerable debate.” However, the range is limited by repeated general words such as “increase,” “production,” and “people,” and several choices or forms are inaccurate: “make a check and balance,” “measurements,” and “inhance” weaken precision. Spelling errors such as “agricutural,” “rapidally,” and “dseases” are noticeable. Build a more precise vocabulary for causes and remedies, and check spelling and collocations so that your ideas sound natural and exact.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “Although,” “because,” and “so,” and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, complex sentences are often faulty or overloaded. For example, the opening sentence joins several clauses with “and” and “but” without clear control, while “the agricultural sector is developed a lot” and “this increase in the population have many effects” show problems with verb forms and subject–verb agreement. Articles, plurals, and sentence boundaries also need attention, as in “a land” and the long sentence beginning “For instance.” Practise building shorter, accurate sentences first, then combine ideas using one clear subordinate clause at a time.
