Student answer (Band 6.0)
In many parts of the world, humans are facing the shortage of food. However, I believe that below average income group and poor government policy are the major causes of this concern, but how through increasing salaries and proper government planning, this problem can be curtailed.
There are multiple causes associated with this topic. Firstly, low salary can be labelled as the root cause of this problem. As techological advancement make the necessary things difficult for common people to purchase, which results in people facing shortage of food. Take an example of Zambia, in which most people wages are below average which face insufficient quality of food. Thus, low income can be labelled as the fueling force behind this issue.
Secondly, apart from low income group, poor administrative authorites can also be another major contribution factor in this menace. As weak laws and regulations can cause a rapid rise in this problem. For instance, a survey conducted in Libya which revealed that 90% of the people believed poor government planning to the biggest cause of this obstacle. Hence, poor authorities management can be considered as the breeding ground of this problem.
However, there are certain viable measures that can be taken to curb the issue. The primary solution I believe would be increase people for those group that below average. If they have sufficient balance to buy necessary items then have no problem for facing reduction of food. Furthrmore, another effective solution is to improve government planning. As strongs laws and regulations can significantly increase the situation.
To sum up, even though low wages group and poor government planning are widely spread in the society, I belive that increasing the salaries of lowered income group and proper government planning, this problem can be tackled.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both questions by identifying low incomes and weak government planning as causes, then proposing higher incomes and better planning as responses. Your position is clear in the introduction and conclusion, and the Zambia and Libya examples are relevant attempts to support your points. However, some ideas are more fully addressed than others: the link between technological advances and food shortages is asserted rather than explained, and the proposed salary increases and stronger laws are not developed with practical detail. The Libya survey statistic is also presented without context, so it offers limited support. Explain how each cause restricts access to food and give more specific, realistic measures to make the response more fully developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, two paragraphs on causes, a paragraph on solutions, and a conclusion. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” “However,” and “To sum up” help readers follow the main stages, and the central position remains consistent. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some of the stronger control associated with a higher level. However, the links between sentences can feel mechanical, and some references are unclear—for example, “this problem” and “this obstacle” recur without always specifying whether they mean hunger, food shortages, or poor access to food. Build smoother links by explaining how each sentence follows from the previous one, and use clearer references or repeat the key idea where needed.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “shortage of food,” “government planning,” “laws and regulations,” and “curb the issue.” There are also attempts at more formal expressions such as “root cause” and “breeding ground.” However, the range is limited by repeated general terms such as “problem” and “issue,” while several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unnatural: “increase people,” “sufficient balance,” and “major contribution factor.” Spelling errors such as “techological,” “authorites,” and “Furthrmore” also reduce precision. Aim for accurate, natural combinations rather than adding formal-sounding phrases; for example, describe “low-income households” and “limited access to nutritious food.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “As,” “which,” and “if,” and the overall meaning is generally recoverable. However, complex sentences are often not controlled successfully. For example, “As techological advancement make…” is an incomplete dependent clause, and “which results in people facing…” does not connect cleanly to a complete main clause. There are also errors in agreement and sentence construction, such as “most people wages … which face” and “If they have sufficient balance … then have no problem.” These patterns sometimes make the reader work to understand the intended meaning. Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check agreement and clause boundaries before adding subordinate clauses.
