Student answer (Band 6.5)
No doubt, fundamental advancement has been made in agriculture, but still it does not meet the food requirements of many people worldwide. People of many under-developed countries have insufficient food due to poverty and lack of resources to produce food. To address this problem, the concerned authorities should take necessary actions to provide affordable and accessible food.
Food is a basic requirement for human to survive like any living being, and should be approachable to everyone and everywhere at reasonable cost. Many countries do not have enough resources like agricultural land, water and atmospheric conditions to grow the crops and produce food for people. Even they can not export food, due to financial constraints. In this case, People of under-developed countries like Africa, Palestine, and Syria suffers with malnutrition due to lack of food and even many dies.
The state holders of the aforementioned nations should take necessary actions to import the cost effective food and make it approachable to every individual. Moreover, organizations like WHO and UNICEF should do surveys in least developed countries, to identify the areas having nutritious deficiency. The targeted audience must be provided with subsidized or free of cost food. For instance, in Pakistan AKUH, a non-profit organizations supply food to pregnant women and children in rural areas , where significant mortality cases are reported due to lack of food.
In conclusion, the main causes of hunger in many countries of world includes insufficient resources to cultivate crops and lack of financial resources to afford the imported food. However, the problem can be solved by the government in coordination with concerned organizations who look after these matters globally.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for global hunger and potential solutions. The ideas are relevant, such as mentioning environmental constraints and the role of international organizations. However, the development is somewhat limited. For instance, the explanation of why countries cannot export food due to financial constraints is brief and could be expanded with more specific economic reasoning. The examples provided, such as mentioning Pakistan, are relevant but could be integrated more smoothly into the argument. Overall, the response covers the requirements but lacks the depth of analysis expected for a higher band score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. There is a discernible progression of ideas from the introduction to the body paragraphs and the conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Moreover', 'For instance', and 'In conclusion', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally imprecise, such as the use of 'state holders' instead of 'stakeholders' or 'governments'. Paragraphing is used appropriately, and the overall structure is coherent, though the flow between sentences could be more sophisticated.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their meaning clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'malnutrition', 'subsidized', and 'mortality cases'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'approachable to everyone' (should be 'accessible') and 'state holders' (likely meant 'stakeholders'). The range of vocabulary is sufficient to discuss the topic, but it lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. Some phrasing is repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'food' and 'resources'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'People... suffers' (subject-verb agreement), 'many dies' (should be 'many die'), and 'a non-profit organizations' (should be 'a non-profit organization'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are minor errors in comma usage. The errors do not significantly impede communication, but they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. A greater variety of error-free complex structures would be needed to reach the next band.
