Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response is significantly under the required word count of 250 words, reaching only 136 words. Consequently, the task is only partially addressed. While the introduction identifies the two parts of the prompt (reasons and solutions), the essay ends abruptly before providing any solutions or a conclusion. The ideas presented, such as population growth and corruption, are relevant but remain under-developed due to the incomplete nature of the response. To improve, you must ensure you fully address both parts of the prompt and provide a complete structure including a conclusion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay shows a basic attempt at logical organization with an introduction and a body paragraph. However, the abrupt ending severely impacts the overall coherence. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To begin', 'However', and 'Furthermore', but the flow is interrupted by the incomplete text. Paragraphing is present, but the lack of a full essay structure makes it difficult to assess the progression of ideas effectively. To improve, ensure that each paragraph is fully developed and that the essay reaches a logical conclusion.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are some awkward collocations, such as 'starving at hunger' (should be 'starving due to hunger' or 'suffering from hunger') and 'it is being failed to cope' (which is grammatically incorrect and lexically imprecise). While you attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'impoverished' and 'stakeholders', the overall range is limited. Focus on using more precise academic collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. For example, 'Though technology has revolutionized the way of agriculture' is slightly unnatural, and 'it is being failed to cope' is a passive construction error. There are also issues with article usage and prepositional phrases. While these errors do not always impede communication, they are frequent enough to affect the clarity of your writing. You should focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of passive voice.
