Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays, the advancement in the agricultural field has become more crucial and a concern around the globe, despite all the advancements the science has made in agriculture, still the world is struggling to fulfill the bare necessities of food. It is argued by some sectors of society that the world is facing serious crisis of huger, despite the advancement of science, while others argue that, that development have no connection to the huger and there are different reasons for this. Both views and stances have their own importance, but I acknowledge that the latter view is more practical and more realistic.

As far as I am concerned, the science has made reasonable progress in agriculture, but still the world is not out of the fear of huger. The contemporary argument is that science does not have any connection to the social life of people. It is the responsibility of the government to provide the essential needs to the citizens. For instance, in developing countries like the South Africa, India Pakistan and so on. The democracy is failed to provide even basic human rights, ultimately, due to this deprivation the community suffers a lot and spread the wind of crime. Consequently, people struggle to earn their livelihood.

To end this dilemma, there are some measures and responsibilities ties to everyone, and everyone should try his best to fill this gap. For instance, the government should take appropriate initiatives to take over this problem, the administration should run different campaigns and raise the awareness among the rich people of that country to help. The private and the governmental bodies should help these people to stand against the odd and face the reality.

In conclusion, despite the valid arguments placed by opponents regarding the development in agriculture, I am still convinced that the latter approach has overarching benefits and is far more substantial.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, identifying reasons for hunger and suggesting solutions. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For example, the explanation of why hunger persists—blaming government failure—is a broad generalization that lacks specific, well-supported evidence. The introduction is slightly confused, as it frames the prompt as a 'two-views' essay (discussing whether science is connected to hunger) rather than a direct 'problem-solution' essay. This misinterpretation of the task type limits the depth of the response. To improve, you should focus on providing more concrete examples and a more logical exploration of the causes, such as economic inequality or distribution issues, rather than just stating that governments are failing.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or slightly misused. Phrases like 'the latter approach' are used without a clear antecedent, making the argument difficult to follow. Additionally, the transition between the causes of hunger and the proposed solutions is abrupt. While there is a clear attempt at an introduction and conclusion, the logical progression within paragraphs is hindered by repetitive phrasing and a lack of sophisticated linking words. Improving the variety of transition signals and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus would enhance the overall flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but there are frequent errors in word choice and spelling that occasionally impede clarity. For instance, the word 'huger' is used repeatedly instead of 'hunger,' and 'spread the wind of crime' is an unnatural collocation. While you attempt to use some academic vocabulary, such as 'contemporary argument' and 'overarching benefits,' the misuse of basic terms limits your score. To reach a higher band, focus on using words in their correct context and ensuring accurate spelling of key terms related to the topic. Expanding your range of topic-specific vocabulary would also be beneficial.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that affect readability. Issues include missing articles (e.g., 'in the South Africa'), incorrect subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'The democracy is failed'), and punctuation errors. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. You should focus on mastering basic sentence construction, particularly the use of articles and verb tenses, before attempting more complex structures. Proofreading for common errors like subject-verb agreement will significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
