Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for hunger and potential solutions. However, the development is limited. The essay focuses almost exclusively on population growth as the sole cause, neglecting other significant factors such as food distribution, waste, or economic inequality. The solutions provided are also somewhat simplistic, focusing only on government-led population control. To achieve a higher band, you need to broaden your scope by discussing multiple causes and providing more detailed, nuanced solutions. The ideas are relevant but lack the depth and extension required for a higher score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay lacks clear paragraphing, appearing as a single block of text. This makes it difficult for the reader to follow the progression of ideas. While there are some attempts at cohesive devices (e.g., 'So', 'Due to this', 'In the past'), they are often used repetitively or mechanically. The logical flow is somewhat disjointed because the transition between the problem and the solution is abrupt. To improve, you should organise your writing into distinct paragraphs—one for the introduction, one for causes, one for solutions, and one for the conclusion—and use a wider variety of linking words to connect your ideas more fluidly.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally basic and repetitive. You frequently use simple terms like 'progress', 'problems', and 'big'. There are also several instances of non-standard word choices or spelling errors, such as 'communes' (likely meaning 'commodities' or 'production'), 'bagan' (began), 'childrens' (children), and 'prosperious' (prosperous). While the meaning is generally clear, the range of vocabulary is limited, and the errors in word formation and spelling are noticeable. To improve, focus on learning collocations and more precise academic vocabulary related to global issues.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures, and there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('peoples are more', 'population exploision occur'), incorrect verb tenses ('there are no better... in the past'), and awkward phrasing ('they cant know about the problems'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with spaces missing before commas and periods. While the meaning is usually understandable, the high frequency of errors and the lack of complex sentence structures limit the score. You should work on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common grammatical slips.
