Student answer (Band 6.0)
For the enrichment of human kind, few things are more crucial than ensuring food security. In many developed and developing countries, a substantial amount of money, effort, and resources is devoted to the agricultural advancement, as it often necessitates the use of various facilities, such as skilled experts, autonomous machinery, and advance farming systems. Nowadays, many would agree that contemporary farming sector has nearly transcended its traditional boundaries and will soon become boundless in its pursuit of securing food availability for the enrichment of people's quality of life. Nevertheless, it is undeniable that several underlying factors contribute to food shortage issue and a range of effective measures can be implemented to mitigate this challenge.
Naturally, scarcity of food is considered more harmful to some individuals, especially those from poorer socio-economic backgrounds. One of the primary reasons for this issue is that despite the advancement in farming technology, climate change is causing droughts or floods resulting rise in food prices and adverse economic conditions.Besides, many cities are unable to adapt alternative farming strategies quickly enough to alleviate global food shortages. Consequently, these factors has become principal contributors to this growing problem. Food insecurity in nations such as Nigeria and Afghanistan, for instance, has emerged as a significant and pressing social challenge.
To tackle this issue, however, lessons regarding food security should be introduced at every level of education, so that peoples can develop better understanding about the impacts of global food shortages from an early age. Furthermore, governments can also introduce several measures such as practicing sustainable farming techniques, adopting modern production and preservation methods, and conducting nationwide awareness program on preserving natural farming resources to address this challenge more effectively. In addition, citizens, agricultural sectors, social media platforms such as Facebook, You Tube, and Instagram along with news papers and television should actively encourage on farming stable food crops, and highlights the harmful impacts of focusing on cash crops.. If these measures are adopted by governments and farmers alike, many citizens stand to benefit significantly.
Although this problem cannot be solved overnight, combined efforts of governments, farmers and communities can substantially reduce its long-term impacts. Overall, by addressing the root causes and implementing practical solutions, the food scarcity despite of modern farming practices can be significantly improved, leading to prosperous nations.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for food insecurity and potential solutions. The ideas are relevant, such as the impact of climate change and the need for educational initiatives. However, the development is somewhat uneven. While the causes are identified, the explanation of how climate change specifically leads to food price hikes could be more detailed. The solutions are practical and well-aligned with the problem. The position is clear throughout, and the essay maintains a consistent focus on the topic, meeting the requirements for a Band 7.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used effectively to separate the causes from the solutions. Cohesive devices such as 'Nevertheless', 'Consequently', and 'Furthermore' are used to link ideas, although some transitions feel slightly mechanical. The progression of ideas is generally smooth, though the connection between the mention of social media platforms and the broader goal of food security could be more tightly integrated to improve the flow. Overall, the structure is clear and easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The student demonstrates a sufficient range of vocabulary to discuss the topic with some precision, using terms like 'food security', 'socio-economic backgrounds', and 'sustainable farming techniques'. There are some minor inaccuracies in collocation and word choice, such as 'farming stable food crops' (should be 'staple') and 'highlights the harmful impacts' (should be 'highlighting'). Despite these occasional errors, the vocabulary is varied enough to convey complex ideas clearly, and the errors do not impede communication, justifying a Band 6.5 or 7.0. I have awarded 6.5 due to the recurring minor word-choice slips.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('these factors has become') and minor punctuation or article errors ('on farming stable food crops', 'despite of modern farming'). While the student attempts complex structures, the control is not entirely consistent. However, the majority of sentences are clear, and the errors do not cause significant difficulty for the reader. The range of structures is adequate for the task, but more consistent accuracy is needed for a higher band.
