Student answer (Band 5.5)

Many people around the world still go hungry despite of advances made in agriculture. In my opinion, this is because the supply of food system in various under developing countries is not substantial. The rich and noble class reserve all supplies through them and try to sold them in maximum rates that a poor person cannot afford. It is the responsibility of a government to provide basis necessities like food and shelter to it's people.

Firstly, the main reason could be people living in undeveloped countries and living in a rural life. A farmer puts hard work in the fields but due to extreme politics, he is not treated same by the officials of that country. Despite of good resources of agriculture and advancement in technologies, people are still hungry because they can't get the proper facilities. The quality and supply of food to rural areas in some parts of the world is relatively low. Moreover, high taxes and increased prices made a huge impact of poverty.

Secondly, government does not fulfil it's responsibility of providing common and necessary facilities to it's people. Every official in it's town needs to be responsible for it's condition. To overcome this situation, food supply should need to be fasten and perfectly by food chain owners. Moreover, prices of food should be considerably less so that poor person could escape hunger.

In conclusion, many people around the world still go hungry because of lack of awareness and humanity among the leaders of under developing countries. Cost effective and food for all solution to be implemented to solve this issue.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for global hunger and potential solutions. However, the development of ideas is limited. The explanation regarding 'extreme politics' and 'food chain owners' is vague and lacks specific, concrete examples to support the arguments. The position is generally clear, but the analysis remains at a superficial level. To reach a higher band, you should provide more detailed explanations and specific real-world examples (e.g., mentioning specific economic policies or agricultural infrastructure issues) to fully develop your points.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as the repetitive use of 'Moreover' and 'Firstly/Secondly'. Some transitions between sentences are abrupt, and the logical flow within paragraphs is occasionally disrupted by unclear referencing (e.g., 'Every official in it's town'). While there is an attempt at an introduction and conclusion, the progression of ideas could be smoother with more varied linking words and better sentence-to-sentence connectivity.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and sophistication. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'try to sold them in maximum rates' (should be 'sell them at maximum prices') and 'food supply should need to be fasten' (should be 'accelerated' or 'improved'). The range of vocabulary is somewhat limited, relying on basic terms. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and academic terminology related to economics and agriculture.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include incorrect preposition usage ('despite of' instead of 'despite'), subject-verb agreement errors, and misuse of possessive pronouns ('it's' instead of 'its'). Punctuation is also inconsistent. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focusing on basic grammatical accuracy, particularly with articles, prepositions, and possessives, is essential.
