Student answer (Band 5.0)

Nowadays, there are very big problem of the advance made in agriculture but most of people all over the earth still fight with there hunger. In this paragraph, i talk about the reasons and solutions of this statement and i also give my opinion on this statement.

Firstly, poverty is on its peak and people don't have enough money to fullfill there needs and they also have lack of money to buy a food for itself or for there family. Fortheremore, many volunteers are uneducated that's why they don't get a job. Moreover, the main problem is behind it is that the agricultural producation is not enough for the people due to high polulation and also people don't have money to buy food items due to poverty and lack of money.

On the other hand, i like to talk about the solutions, firstly give jobs to people so they have enough moeny to fullfills there need and buy food items. Government should take serious action on this problem, they should provide more agricultural land to farmers so they produce more wheat and rice like crops and fullfill there production.

Therefor, the reasons behind it was very brutal, first of all farmers don't get the good price of there crops so many people quit farming and the other reason is that government not give subsitie on agricultural tools so that many farmers don't have tools to do farming.

Lastly, i say that government should take actions on this statement and i give all the reasons and solutions in this paragraphs.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt—reasons for hunger and potential solutions. However, the development of ideas is limited and repetitive. For example, poverty is mentioned multiple times as a reason, but the explanation lacks depth or specific examples. The structure is somewhat disjointed, with new reasons (farmers not getting good prices) introduced in the final paragraph rather than being integrated into the main body. The position is clear, but the overall argument lacks the necessary extension and supporting evidence required for a higher band score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay uses basic cohesive devices like 'Firstly', 'Moreover', and 'On the other hand', but these are often used mechanically or incorrectly. Paragraphing is present but illogical; the final paragraph introduces new points that should have been grouped with the earlier reasons. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as 'the main problem is behind it is that...', which makes the flow of ideas difficult to follow. The progression of ideas is not smooth, and the essay feels like a list of points rather than a cohesive argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, relying on basic terms like 'money', 'food', and 'problem'. There are frequent errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'producation', 'polulation', 'fullfill', and 'subsitie'. These errors occasionally impede the reader's understanding. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to discuss the topic with any precision or flexibility, and there is no attempt to use less common or academic collocations appropriate for an IELTS Task 2 essay.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout, including subject-verb agreement issues ('government not give'), incorrect pronoun usage ('buy a food for itself'), and misuse of articles. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with run-on sentences and improper capitalization. While the meaning is generally conveyed, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar and the lack of complex structures significantly limit the score. The writing lacks the control necessary for higher band descriptors.
