Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, as it is only 117 words long. Consequently, the task is only partially addressed. While the introduction attempts to outline reasons and solutions, the essay is cut off mid-sentence in the second paragraph. The ideas presented regarding climate change are relevant but remain severely under-developed due to the lack of completion. To improve, you must ensure you provide a full response that covers both parts of the prompt—reasons and solutions—with sufficient supporting detail and examples to meet the length requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay shows an attempt at logical organization with an introduction and a body paragraph. However, the abrupt ending prevents the development of a coherent structure. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To commence with' and 'In this regard', but the flow is interrupted by the incomplete nature of the text. Paragraphing is present, but the overall progression is halted. To improve, focus on completing your arguments and using a wider variety of linking words to connect your ideas more fluidly throughout the entire essay.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is somewhat limited and contains errors in word choice. For example, 'pensive concern' is an incorrect collocation; 'pensive' refers to deep thought, not a serious problem. Additionally, 'forthcoming fragments' is an unnatural way to refer to the rest of the essay. While the meaning is generally understandable, the range is not sufficient to demonstrate flexibility. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and using more precise academic vocabulary to express your ideas clearly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The text contains several grammatical errors that affect clarity. For instance, 'This essay will outlined' should be 'This essay will outline', and 'there are many reasons of mentioned statement' lacks proper articles and preposition usage. There is also a sentence fragment: 'It also led to floods'. The range of structures is limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences. To improve, practice using a mix of complex sentence structures and pay closer attention to subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles.
