Student answer (Band 6.5)
It is an undeniable that a fact people across the globe suffer from hunger, despite technological breakthroughs in agriculture. In this regard, it is largely due to inadequate investment and the increasing frequency of climate-related disasters. Yet there are several ways to tackle this ongoing difficulty.
To commence with, one of the major causes that contribute to famine is the lack of sufficient attention to investing money into horticulture. To begin with, it is essential to buy cutting-edge technologies and hire workers who are better equipped with the necessary knowledge to manage the complex systems in this sector. However, some marginalized areas of the world do not have enough resources to meet these requirements. It can be seen in many African countries as they struggle to modernize their farming infrastructure emanate of limited budgets, leading to low productivity and food shortages. Moreover, extreme weather events are another reason for starvation. Natural disasters and prolonged droughts in certain parts continue to hinder food production.
Nevertheless, even though the solutions are not simple, they can be highly effective if applied correctly. Firstly, the role of government intervention cannot be undermined. It is a powerful factor that can provide subsidies for agricultural operations. As a result, it would be possible to conduct training to improve employees’ agricultural skills. Furthermore, high-priced equipment can be purchased without concern about financial challenges. Secondly, collective action of countries can help mitigate the adverse effects of climate change. For instance, international meetings such as COP 29, show how contributions of nations are significant for various industries, including agriculture.
In conclusion, addressing food insecurity requires a multifaceted approach that blends financial support, education, and cooperation. By empowering vulnerable regions and reinforcing sustainable practices, the world can move closer to ensuring a balance between supply and demand.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the causes of global hunger and potential solutions. The position is clear throughout, and the ideas are relevant. The development is generally good, though some points could be more deeply explored. For instance, the link between 'investment' and 'famine' is established, but the explanation of how specific technologies directly solve the issue could be more detailed. The structure is logical, and the response maintains a consistent focus on the topic, fulfilling the requirements of the task well.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear progression of ideas. Paragraphing is used effectively to separate the causes from the solutions. Cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'Moreover', and 'Nevertheless' are used to guide the reader through the argument. While some transitions are slightly mechanical, the overall flow is smooth. Referencing is generally clear, and the relationship between the ideas within and between paragraphs is well-managed, contributing to a coherent piece of writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is sufficient for the task and allows for some precision. You have used some less common items such as 'multifaceted', 'mitigate', and 'infrastructure' appropriately. There are occasional minor inaccuracies in collocation, such as 'emanate of limited budgets' (which should be 'emanating from' or 'due to'). However, these errors do not impede communication. The range of vocabulary is adequate to convey your ideas clearly and demonstrates a good level of control over the topic-specific terminology.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are some grammatical slips, such as 'It is an undeniable that a fact people...' which is syntactically awkward. Other errors include 'the role of government intervention cannot be undermined' (where 'overstated' or 'underestimated' would be more accurate) and minor phrasing issues. However, the majority of your sentences are clear and error-free. The complexity of your sentence structures is sufficient to support your arguments, and the errors present do not cause difficulty for the reader.
