Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt (reasons for hunger and solutions), but the development is limited. The ideas are presented in a somewhat superficial manner, and the essay fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which negatively impacts the depth of the argument. While the position is clear, the supporting points, such as 'government should supply equal food', lack sufficient elaboration or concrete examples to fully satisfy the requirements of the task. The ideas are relevant but remain underdeveloped.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'In despite of make agriculture' or 'The another reason is that'. The progression of ideas is sometimes disjointed, and the transition between the problem and the solution is not always smooth. While there is an attempt to use linking words, they are frequently misused, which hinders the flow of the argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The range of vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'rural persons' instead of 'rural populations' and 'get properly food' instead of 'access proper food'. The student struggles to use precise terminology related to the topic of agriculture and food security. The vocabulary is generally basic, and the errors occasionally make the intended meaning slightly difficult to grasp, though the overall message remains understandable.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures, and attempts at complex sentences are often marred by grammatical errors. There are frequent issues with subject-verb agreement, article usage, and prepositional phrases (e.g., 'In despite of make agriculture', 'more of the population of world'). Punctuation is also inconsistent. While the meaning is usually clear, the high frequency of grammatical errors throughout the text prevents the essay from reaching a higher band score.
