Student answer (Band 5.5)
There are numerous improvements and innovations have been introduced in the farming sector ,but still a part of humans population is failed to obtain their daily nutritional value. This is due to the severe weather conditions and poverty. This issue can be resolved by addressing these problems.
Firstly, weather conditions are very severe almost in every region of the earth. These conditions can cause floods and drought in different areas, which result in adverse effects on crops production. For instance, the drought in African countries, and floods in Pacific regions are usually caused by harsh weather conditions . Therefore, weather can reduce the production of crops. Secondly, money is also a big issue to get a proper meal. People are unable to afford appropriate food. Lower class is not able to buy basic groceries, while, elite class is wasting a huge amount of food daily.
The main solutions of this challenge are to take steps to reduce environmental changes and eliminate poverty by providing employments. Different environmental changes can cause severe weather conditions . For example, global warming can speed up the glaciers melting process which is the basic cause of floods . Therefore , by controlling environmental issues, we can increase agriculture production. Employments and providing enough income to households can also contribute to eliminate the hunger problem from the world. So people can buy food for their families.
It is concluded, that harsh weather conditions and wealth are the stem reasons of the hunger issue and can be addressed by employment and improving environment.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for global hunger and potential solutions. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the explanation of poverty is limited to a brief mention of income inequality, and the solutions, while relevant, lack depth and specific examples of how these policies might be implemented. The essay covers the requirements, but the arguments would benefit from more detailed elaboration and concrete evidence to reach a higher band. The position is clear, but the overall analysis remains at a general level.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', 'For instance', and 'Therefore' are used to link ideas. However, the flow is sometimes mechanical, and the transition between the causes and solutions could be smoother. The referencing is generally clear, but the structure of the sentences within paragraphs occasionally feels repetitive. Overall, the progression of ideas is logical, and the paragraphing is appropriate for the task.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. There is some repetition of basic terms like 'conditions', 'problems', and 'issues'. While the student attempts to use some topic-specific vocabulary such as 'nutritional value', 'glaciers', and 'environmental changes', the range is limited. There are no significant errors in word choice that impede communication, but the language does not demonstrate the flexibility or sophistication required for a higher band score. More precise synonyms and collocations would improve the quality of the writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'a part of humans population is failed' (should be 'a part of the human population fails') and 'The main solutions of this challenge are to take steps' (should be 'The main solutions to this challenge involve taking steps'). Punctuation errors, such as unnecessary spaces before commas, are frequent. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors suggests a lack of control over more complex grammatical forms, keeping the score in the mid-range.
