Student answer (Band 6.0)

The advancement in the agriculture process with the innovative arrigation system and proper fertilization has increased both the quality and the quantity of the crops. Despite this, many people are deprived from the food. It is due to the uneven distributions of the resources among the developed and the developing nations and the socio-political issues which creates poverty.

Most of the developed countries have more control over the world's resources. They have wealth to buy vast quantities of the crops above their need. Moreover, they do not feel reluctant to waste the food because they can afford it easily. On the contrary, the individuals in the developing countries do not have enough money to purchase the food items. That is the reason,a demand-supply imbalance leads towards the starvation in poor nations.

The corruption at the governmental level is also a major cause of poverty. When the government do not make wise decisions to fulfill the need and supply ratio of the people, the market goes with a shortage of the supply which leads towards the high prices. Thus, the inflation makes it difficult for poor people to buy the food for their families.

To address this issue, the world leaders should cooperate with the developing nations by giving donations and ads for food. Moreover, the govrnment should be elected in a transparent manners to eradicate corruption because the corrupt government will directly affects the plicies and leads towards decisions which may not be favorable to the poor people.

In conclusion, the hunger in the developing countries can be aradicated by the mutual cooperation of the wealthy nations while the internal political and social imbalance should be adjusted in a way to decrease the poverty by making laws about thevfood supply among the needy people.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: causes of hunger and potential solutions. The ideas are relevant, focusing on resource distribution, socio-political issues, and corruption. However, the development is somewhat superficial. For instance, the suggestion of 'donations and ads' is vague and lacks depth. While the position is clear throughout, the arguments could be more thoroughly extended with specific examples or more nuanced analysis to reach a higher band. The response covers all requirements but remains at a general level of discussion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. There is a progression of ideas from the causes to the solutions. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Moreover', 'On the contrary', and 'Thus', though some transitions feel slightly mechanical. Referencing is generally clear, although the connection between sentences could be smoother in the second paragraph. Overall, the structure is coherent, and paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different aspects of the task.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to communicate their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'deprived', 'imbalance', and 'eradicate'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice or minor errors, such as 'agriculture process' instead of 'agricultural practices', 'arrigation' (spelling error), and 'ads' (likely meaning 'aid'). These errors do not impede communication, but they demonstrate a limited range of precise, academic vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('the government do not make', 'the corrupt government will directly affects') and article usage errors ('the agriculture process', 'the food'). While these errors are noticeable, they rarely impede the reader's understanding. To improve, the writer should focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and article consistency, and attempt more varied complex sentence structures to demonstrate greater control.
