Student answer (Band 6.0)
Though the agriculture sector is being developed, many people are still starving around the globe. I believe, corruption is one of the main reasons behind this inconsistency. This problem can be solved by strict monitoring of the agricultural products starting from the harvest to the supply of the product to the consumers.
In this modern time, advancements have been made in the agricultural sector with the introduction of disease resistant, high yield crops by genome modification, new advanced tool for sowing and harvesting of crops and many more. As a result, the production of food is very high compared to the past years. Unfortunately, there are records of thousands of people who still go hungry in many countries. This happens because there is a huge gap between the producers and the consumers. The middlemen are corrupting the food chain and making it harder for some consumers to procure food. They sometimes hog products in their storehouse to create a temporary scarcity in the market. After that, they sell the stored product later on in a high price. As a result, many people can not afford to buy food and remain hungry.
This serious issue can be solved if the government intervenes in the food chain and starts monitoring strictly in every step so that no other corrupted people can take chance being in the middle. For example, in Bangladesh, the government has started to arrange farmer's market so that the consumers can directly buy products from the producers which in turn, will demolish the immortal activities of the middlemen.
In conclusion, even though several progress have been made in agriculture, people from many countries are suffering from starvation. This problem can be mitigated by the strict monitoring by the government so that there will be no corruption in the food sector.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have addressed both parts of the prompt: the reasons for global hunger and potential solutions. Your position is clear throughout the essay. The ideas, such as the role of middlemen and government intervention, are relevant and logically developed. However, the response could be improved by expanding on the 'reasons' section beyond just corruption. For instance, mentioning factors like climate change, poverty, or logistical challenges would provide a more comprehensive answer. The example from Bangladesh is a good, specific illustration that supports your argument effectively. Overall, the response is well-focused and meets the requirements of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each paragraph has a central theme, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'In this modern time,' 'As a result,' and 'In conclusion,' to link your ideas. However, the transition between the first and second paragraphs is slightly abrupt, and some of the linking phrases are a bit repetitive. To reach a higher band, try to vary your cohesive devices and ensure that the progression between sentences is smoother and less mechanical.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'genome modification,' 'procure,' and 'mitigated.' There are some minor issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'immortal activities' (likely meant 'immoral') and 'take chance being in the middle.' Additionally, 'several progress' is grammatically incorrect as 'progress' is an uncountable noun. While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise control over vocabulary and word forms to reach the higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors throughout the text. For example, 'new advanced tool' should be plural ('tools'), 'in a high price' should be 'at a high price,' and 'several progress' is incorrect. Punctuation is generally acceptable, but there are some missing commas in complex sentences. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of prepositions. Increasing the variety of complex structures while maintaining accuracy will help you achieve a higher score.
