Student answer (Band 5.5)

Despite advancement in the agriculture, people around the globe yet sleeps with hunger. The cause for this situation is lack of fertile lands, and a fesible solution for this could be sharing knowledge with the people.

Discussing the cause of the problem is that in this worls not all the land are applicable for the agriculture. This issue makes it impossible for people to produce more food fromtheir lands. Rather than growing crops in the field, they rely on the issue of infertile lands. For example, in Nigeria most of the land are incapable to plant food. Thus people goes hungry leaving limited option to eat which is not sufficient for all.

The curb this issue the population from those affected areas should be taught to grow food in mordern way. In other words, as the agriculture sector is booming with the advance methods, those ways of growing food should be taught to the country with insufficient resources. For instance, drip watering technic to save water in the dry lands and grow plants could be useful to plant enough food for the people. Therefore, as the new technique is rearched it chould be freely shared to all the people who can save their farms and plants to receive plenty of food to eat.

In conclusion, although the agriculture industry is advancing, yet many people are unable to get enough food to eat. This is a major issue due to lack of data sharing and if the data are shared with all for free everyone can have their portion to eat and nourish.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: causes and solutions. However, the development is limited. The argument regarding 'infertile lands' is somewhat simplistic and lacks depth, as it ignores other major factors like economic inequality, distribution issues, or political instability. The proposed solution of 'sharing knowledge' is relevant but remains underdeveloped. The ideas are presented in a general way, and the examples, such as the mention of Nigeria, are brief and do not fully illustrate the complexity of the issue. To achieve a higher band, you should provide more nuanced explanations and explore the multifaceted nature of global hunger beyond just land quality.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. There is an attempt to use cohesive devices like 'In other words', 'For instance', and 'In conclusion'. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the logical progression within paragraphs is occasionally hindered by awkward phrasing. For example, the transition between the cause and the solution could be smoother. Referencing is generally clear, but the overall structure feels a bit repetitive in its approach to linking ideas. Improving the variety of cohesive devices would enhance the logical flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several instances of word-choice errors, such as 'sleeps with hunger' (instead of 'suffer from hunger'), 'fesible' (spelling error: feasible), 'mordern' (spelling error: modern), and 'rearched' (spelling error: researched). The range of vocabulary is limited, relying on basic terms like 'issue', 'problem', and 'food'. To improve, you should focus on using more academic collocations and precise terminology related to agriculture and global development, while also ensuring accurate spelling throughout the text.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('people goes hungry', 'land are incapable'), article usage errors ('in the agriculture'), and awkward phrasing ('The curb this issue'). While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. You should focus on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and ensuring that your sentence structures are grammatically sound before attempting more complex forms.
