Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 148 words. Consequently, the development of ideas is severely limited. While the essay attempts to address both parts of the prompt—reasons for hunger and potential solutions—the discussion is underdeveloped and lacks depth. The solutions part of the prompt is entirely missing, as the essay stops abruptly after mentioning reasons. To improve, you must expand on your arguments with specific examples and ensure all parts of the question are answered in full.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay shows some attempt at logical organization, using transition signals like 'To commence with' and 'Secondly'. However, the progression is interrupted by the incomplete nature of the text. Paragraphing is present but the overall structure is fragmented. The use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes inaccurate, such as the abrupt transition between the introduction and the body paragraph. To achieve a higher score, ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and that ideas flow logically from one to the next with a wider variety of linking words.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and often imprecise. There are several non-standard word choices and errors in word formation, such as 'full fill' instead of 'fulfilling', 'hungerness' instead of 'hunger', and 'human begins' instead of 'human beings'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to discuss the topic in an academic manner. To improve, focus on learning collocations and accurate word forms. You should also aim to use more precise academic terminology related to agriculture and global economics rather than relying on basic, repetitive phrasing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. Examples include 'full fill every individual basic need is a growing consensus' (incorrect sentence structure), 'numerous number of person' (subject-verb agreement and pluralization errors), and 'crops is produced' (subject-verb agreement). The range of sentence structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences with errors. To improve, you need to focus on basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of articles and plural forms. Practicing complex sentence structures will also help improve your range.
