Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 140 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you identify some relevant points—such as the high cost of technology for small farmers and the role of market manipulation—the discussion is underdeveloped and lacks depth. The prompt asks for both reasons and solutions, but the solutions are entirely absent from your response. To improve, you must ensure you address all parts of the prompt and provide sufficient supporting evidence and examples to fully explore your arguments. The current length prevents a full development of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The essay lacks a clear structure. There is no introduction or conclusion, and the ideas are presented in a single, disjointed paragraph. While there are some attempts at cohesive devices like 'Although' and 'as a result', the logical flow is frequently interrupted by fragmented sentences and unclear transitions. The progression of ideas is difficult to follow because the sentences do not connect logically to one another. To improve, you should organize your essay into clear paragraphs: an introduction, two body paragraphs (one for reasons, one for solutions), and a conclusion. Using linking words more effectively will help guide the reader through your arguments.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.5
The vocabulary is limited and often imprecise, which occasionally makes the meaning unclear. For example, phrases like 'steadily risen the crop production' and 'the world hungry' are grammatically and lexically awkward. You attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary such as 'pesticide', 'machinery', and 'fertilizer', but the overall range is narrow. There are also issues with word choice, such as 'little farmer' instead of 'small-scale farmer'. To reach a higher band, you need to expand your range of vocabulary and focus on using words in their correct collocations and contexts.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede communication. There are significant issues with verb tense consistency, subject-verb agreement, and sentence structure. For instance, 'steadily risen' should be 'has steadily increased', and 'a number of diseases as a result, getting best profit' is a fragmented, run-on construction. Many sentences lack proper punctuation, making the text difficult to parse. You rely almost exclusively on simple sentence structures, and attempts at more complex sentences are often faulty. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would be a good starting point for improvement.
