Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: causes of hunger and potential solutions. However, the development of ideas is limited. For example, the argument regarding 'low technologies' is vague, and the suggestion for government intervention is repetitive across paragraphs. While the essay covers the requirements, the analysis lacks depth and specific, well-explained examples. The ideas are presented in a somewhat simplistic manner, which prevents the response from reaching a higher band. To improve, you should expand on your points with more detailed explanations and concrete, real-world examples rather than general statements.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use basic cohesive devices like 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'In conclusion' to signal the progression of ideas. However, the internal cohesion within paragraphs is often weak. For instance, the transition between the problem of 'lorry systems' and the proposed solution in the third paragraph is abrupt. Additionally, some sentences are disjointed, such as 'For this solution govt should provide more facilities to avoid these damages and increase the agriculture system in later.' Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words would enhance the flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for a higher score. There are frequent spelling errors (e.g., 'techonolgies', 'reaosn', 'backgorund', 'oraganization') and some awkward word choices, such as 'agriculture goods' instead of 'agricultural produce' or 'died hungry' instead of 'died of starvation'. You rely on basic vocabulary, and there is little evidence of less common lexical items or idiomatic expressions. To improve, focus on learning collocations and ensuring the correct spelling of academic terms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'economy of the countries have been falling', 'agriculture system have been diminishes') and incorrect article usage. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with commas. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. You should focus on mastering subject-verb agreement and refining your use of articles and verb tenses.
